WHY? Young people have an important role to play in the lead up to the Post-2015 Development Agenda. For the last two years, several youth organizations and coalitions have been involved through difference consultations, UN meetings, reports and other spaces.

WHAT? Given that the new development agenda is fast approaching and the importance of mobilizing across movements and regions, the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YCSRR) is organizing a global strategy meeting for young activists involved in the Post-2015 discussions. The purpose of the meeting will be to strategize around engagement and agenda setting across youth movements, advancing young people’s demands going into Post-2015 and building upon the inter-linkages between development issues and sexual and reproductive rights.

WHO? Young people from all regions who are involved in the Post-2015 UN Process are invited to apply. The meeting is open to young people working on sexual and reproductive rights as well as those coming from other movements. Please note that young people from the Global South will have priority.

WHEN? 6-8 June 2014 | WHERE? Bangkok, Thailand

Only one person per organization will be considered. Young people from the Global South, LGBTIQ and human rights activists as well as young activists working outside of the sexual and reproductive rights movement are strongly encouraged to apply. The meeting will be in English only; translation services will not be made available. Self-funded participants must also submit a full application. LGBTIQ activists interested in the pre-meeting SOGI training must apply to both the training and global strategy meeting to be considered.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Youth aged 18 to 29 years old;
  • Agreement with YCSRR Principles and Values;
  • Active member of an organization involved in the Post-2015 development agenda discussions;
  • Experience in the post-2015 process at the national, regional or global level.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Committed to actively follow-up for at least 6 months, in order to implement outcome strategies;
  • Interested in Sexual and Reproductive Rights and the inter-linkages with youth movement(s) and the Post-2015 Development Agenda

Scholarships

The meeting will include both funded and self-funded participants. A limited number of scholarships will be available for participants from the Global South.

Join 50 top student leaders from across the world to learn how to be effective, ethical, and innovative leaders at the Student Leadership Summit in University of Pittsburgh campus, Pittsburgh, PA. Participants will work alongside distinguished mentors who will share their expertise and provide dynamic leadership training. 2014 International Youth Camp Dialogue, Russian Federation

Description

Intercultural dialogue is one of the key missions of the Council of Europe, along with promoting democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Young people are crucial actors in this process as the main stakeholders of societies who are freer from the prejudice, discrimination and segregation that have characterised most of Europe for the past decades. Among the Council of Europe’s member states, the Russian Federation is of core importance when it comes to supporting the development of intercultural dialogue processes, as the more than 180 ethnic groups live on the territory of the Russian Federation. In this context, there is a need for reinforcing the dialogue between different communities and also for raising awareness on intercultural dialogue as a key element of social cohesion.

The VI International Youth Camp “Dialogue” will take place from 22 to 27 of June 2014 in Kaluga region at the cultural-educational touristic centre “Ethnomir”. The camp will bring together around 200 participants from Council of Europe member states and beyond including Commonwealth of Independent States countries, different regions of Russia who are actively involved in the implementation of international and interethnic youth projects. Foreign students from Russian universities, representatives of the state bodies, Council of Europe, European Youth Forum, representatives of world religious confessions and NGOs are welcome to take part in this event.

Eligibility

The camp will bring together 200 young people, representing different ethnic groups from Europe and beyond. The Council of Europe is now launching the call for participants from its member states (other than the Russian Federation).

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • be aged between 18-30;
  • be resident in one of the Council of Europe’s member states other than the Russian Federation;
  • be motivated to participate in the camp and engage in the learning process;
  • have an experience in intercultural, interethnic or interreligious youth events;
  • be able to work in Russian;.
  • have an interest in the development of intercultural dialogue;
  • be committed to act as a multiplier;  5
  • be willing to participate in all activities foreseen for the whole duration of the camp programme;
  • be a member of a youth organisation (at local, regional or national level) or be specialist in the field of youth policy at federal, regional or local level.

​Priority will be given to the participants who are able to communicate in the Russian language.

Costs

Food, accommodation and travel expenses for 25 European participants will be covered by the Council of Europe. The other 175 participants will be selected by the organisers. The Russian partners will cover their expenses.

2014 IPU Paid Internship in Switzerland

Remuneration: a stipend amount to SFr. 1,000 per month.

Description

Inter-Parliamentary Union, a global political organization offering internships for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students. Applicants should pursuing a course of study or work in fields related to the IPU’s mandate and activities.  Interns will came aross how the IPU operates and enhance their educational experience by working under the supervision of a senior staff member. Internship will amount to SFr. 1,000 per month in Geneva. Last date to apply is 16th May 2014. Maximun length of the internship will be 6 months. The internship is expected to run for a period of 3 months. It should start no later than 1 June.

Field of Internship: Within the delegated authority interns’ tasks will include:

-Reviewing tagged records for accuracy and completeness;
-Tagging website content according to the current taxonomy model;
-Fine tuning the taxonomy tree to ensure delivery of targeted, relevant content;
-Other assigned tasks related to the content migration.

Eligibility

– Ability to adapt to an international, multicultural, multilingual environment.
– Good communication skills.
– Ability to work fairly independently or as part of a team.
– Initiative and flexibility.
– The cost of travel, insurance and accommodation, as well as living expenses, are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
– Interns are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and for obtaining the necessary passport and visa or other documents for entering Switzerland.
– Interns are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.
– IPU does not accept responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during an internship.
– Interns are responsible for procuring and maintaining their own insurance coverage for illness and accidents while they are working at the IPU, and a copy of documentation attesting to such insurance coverage should be provided by each intern on their first day of internship.
– Any past work experience and knowledge of IT-related work would be an advantage.
– Close relatives of a serving IPU official are not eligible to apply.
– Working knowledge, both oral and written, of the IPU’s official languages (English and French).
– University degree or final year of undergraduate studies;
– Degrees in disciplines considered relevant to the IPU’s work, e.g. international law, economics, political science, and the social sciences.
