  • Intern for AsAmNews: Earn college credit and valuable experience at AsAmNews. This internship is open until a qualified applicant is selected.
  • 2018 N3Con Columbia Journalism School Student Fellowship: Three $750 fellowships available for current students to offset costs for registration, travel, accommodations and meals for AAJA-Asia’s 2018 N3Con: New.Now.Next. Media Conference in Hong Kong. The application deadline is March 30, 2018.
  • Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship: In partnership with Facebook, AAJA will award five scholarships of $10,000 each to juniors, seniors and graduate students pursuing a degree in digital media/journalism/communications. The application deadline is April 8, 2018.
  • Columbia Journalism School Student Fellowship: Five $750 fellowships available for current students to offset costs for registration, travel, accommodations and meals for the 2018 AAJA National Convention in Houston. The application deadline is April 15, 2018.
  • Stanford Chen Internship Grant: $1,750 available to offset living expenses and costs for college juniors, seniors and graduate students in journalism who have secured a summer 2018 internship. The application deadline is April 22, 2018.
  • William Woo Print and Online News Internship Grant: $1,000 available to support students and recent graduates who have secured a print or online news internship for the summer of 2018. The application deadline is April 22, 2018.
  • Broadcast News Internship Grants: Up to $1,000 offered to support an Asian American male who has secured a broadcast news internship for the summer of 2018 through the Lloyd LaCuesta internship grant fund; and up to $250 offered to a student with a 2018 summer broadcast news internship through the Sam Chu Lin internship grant fund. The application deadline is April 22, 2018
  • CIC/Anna Chennault Scholarship: $5,000 available to graduating high school seniors and college students who are passionate about journalism. This grant pays for educational costs and travel to the 2018 AAJA National Convention in Houston. The application deadline is April 22, 2018.

  • Mary Quon Moy Ing Memorial Scholarship: Up to $2,000 available to current college students, graduate students and graduating high school seniors interested in pursuing journalism as a career. The application deadline is April 22, 2018.

Call for Applications, International Youth Summit 2018 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Young Leaders Development Project (YLDP) under Uzbekistan Teachers of English Association (UzTEA) announces admission to the International Youth Summit 2018 (IYS 2018).

Brief information about Summit: The International Youth Summit is held annually starting from 2016. The Summit is considered as one of the first youth events in Uzbekistan conducted in English. The participants of the Summit will be selected through submission of online application from all regions of the Republic and foreign countries. The Summit will last three days during which participants will be divided into several groups for creating socially significant projects. Moreover, during these three days the various seminars and trainings will be conducted for Summit participants, as a result of which, they will be able to create and present new projects, the best of which will be implemented by YLDP and investors. The projects as “YLDP Summer School”, “Plov4Love”, “Back2Reality” and Annual Youth Plenary Session are the results of Summits 2016 and 2017, which were implemented with the support of YLDP. The students of lyceums, colleges and high educational institutions as well as applicants and youth with the same interests and hobbies were united in aforementioned projects.

Aim of the Summit: The ultimate goal of the Summit is to create a special platform for young activists of our country and foreign countries, where they can exchange experience, knowledge and ideas as well as acquire new skills. Taking into consideration that the Summit is international, it would assist to form the right opinion of young activists of the Republic of Uzbekistan about foreign countries, and conversely the guests of the Republic will be able to obtain clear and detailed information about Uzbekistan.

The Summit is divided into following sub-conferences:

  • Ecology
  • Social Development
  • Nation Branding
  • Architecture


The youth from all over the world aged from 18 to 27 can take part in this Summit. The working language is English.

Call for Applications, International Development Youth Forum 2018

Deadline:  17 December 2017
Open to: young people between 18 and 28 years old from all over the world
Venue: 11– 18 March 2018 in Tokyo, Japan


Applications are now invited from youth worldwide to participate in the International Development Youth Forum (IDYF) 2018 taking place from March 11th to 18th, 2018 at the Youth education National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo, Japan. The forum focused especially on “How could the use/advancement of ICT contribute to achieving inclusiveness within society?” as a theme by using three specific case studies (1.Introducing ICT into working style reform in Japan, 2.ICT application into Agriculture in Vietnam, and 3.Role of ICT in post-conflict reconciliation in Colombia), you can discuss the nature of development, including its goals and the roles of multinational corporations, in order to create a new vision for ‘development’ that addresses the limitations of our current economic system with 40 selected participants from diverse nationalities.

Since 2012, International Development Youth Forum has been held annually and many highly motivated youths, who are willing to make a contribution for International Development have gotten together from all over the world and each time we have designed our future by proposing innovative and local-oriented solutions for developing issues in the world. In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Those who are around 18 to 28 years old
  • Those who have not participated in previous IDYFs
  • Fluency in English for discussion and presentation
  • Must be able to attend all programs during the forum

Costs & Scholarships

If you are selected to participate in IDYF 2018, you will be required to pay 36,000 JPY, which covers your accommodation, meals, and transportation fees during the forum (Sun. 11 March to Sun. 18 March 2018).

  • It doesn’t include transportation fees from the airport to the venue, accommodation fee before / after the program, or insurance.
  • Optional tour on 18th is not covered.
  • Payment details will be announced after the results of the selection.

IDYF 2018 has two separate application forms, one for self-funded candidates, and another for scholarship candidates. Note that you cannot apply for both.

This year, scholarships will be given to up to three applicants who show extraordinary skills, experiences or knowledge on each of the case studies but have financial difficulties to cover ONLY participation costs.

  • Applicants who wish to apply for the scholarship must submit the application form for scholarship applicants. Only those who passed the document screening will be invited to Skype interview

Call for Applications, NorSec 2018 in Oslo, Norway

The Youth Atlantic Treaty Association of Norway welcomes you to attend the 13th edition of the annual Nordic Security Conference (NorSec), taking place in Oslo on 7-8 April. This year’s topic will be “China’s emergence as a superpower, and the implications for European security cooperation”. Over the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with leading national and international experts, engage in lively discussions with fellow students and young professionals, and network with like-minded people with various backgrounds and nationalities.

Saturday 7 April will consist of a lecture series, giving you insight into China’s rise as a superpower and increasing geopolitical influence. The lectures will address implications for NATO and the EU, as well as existing dependencies and opportunities for cooperation. In addition to the lectures we will arrange a panel discussion and breakaway sessions with political, economical or defense-related focus to facilitate dialogue and active involvement of all participants. For those participating on Sunday, the breakaway sessions will also serve as preparation for the workshop.

After the lecture series, international participants will be invited to take part in a guided cultural experience in Oslo and a banquet dinner along with YATA Norway’s board members as well as selected lecturers.

Sunday 8 April will be an interactive day consisting of a workshop and a crisis simulation. During the workshop, participants will be asked to form short oral and written presentations based on the lecture series they attended on Saturday. The crisis simulation is conducted by one of our experienced partners in this field and will lead the participants into a challenging environment where they will be able to test their crisis management abilities.

  • provide a short CV where recent similar conferences you have attended are listed
  • write a short essay (about 500 words)
  • fill out and upload the verification form found here (link)

The organisers will cover all accommodation and catering expenses during the conference for the selected participants (including the banquet dinner), as well as documented travel expenses up to 715 NOK. This number may increase as more sponsors are confirmed, the final number will be stated in the acceptance letter.

TMG Space Camp Scholarship Applications 2018 are now open

TMG Space Camp Scholarship Applications are now open through January 15, 2018.

This scholarship is for 100% of the tuition to 1 week of space camp (July 8-13, 2018) and includes a flight suit, transportation and a small spending stipend. The total value is approximately $2,500.

Application requirements include:

  • Must join the TMG Student Space Ambassador Leadership Program (see for information and to signup)
  • Family must qualify for the USDA FREE lunch program. We do require verification of your family qualification of the USDA FREE lunch program if you are awarded a scholarship.
  • Must live in the continental U.S. (Lower 48 states)
  • Must be able to attend Space Camp the week of July 7-13, 2018
  • Have never attended Space Camp USA in Huntsville, Alabama
  • Must be between the age of 15-17 as of July 1, 2018.
  • Application must be submitted by 11:59pm January 15, 2018

Application for the scholarship consists of 3 parts:

  1. Fill out the application form which includes an outreach project proposal. Students who are awarded a TMG Space Camp Scholarship will be required to complete an outreach project where they share their Space Camp experience with their community.
  2. Student will need to create and submit a short video (under 5 minutes) introducing themselves and explaining why STEM education and/or space exploration are important to the future of humankind. Videos will need to be emailed to with the student’s full name and words “Space Camp Scholarship Application 2018” in Subject line of the email as well as in the title of the video file.
  3. Students will need to have a mentor or teacher fill out out a recommendation form.

Apply now for the 2017-2018 JACL Kakehashi Program! Up to 200 participants will be selected to participate in this year’s JACL Kakehashi Program, coordinated by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), and supported by funding from the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of the JACL Kakehashi Program is to build relations between Japan and Japanese Americans/Asian Americans. The program provides participants with a better understanding of Japan through a variety of fields, including politics, economics, and culture. JACL Kakehashi Program alumni are encouraged to become effective advocates in enhancing U.S. – Japan relations.
Participants selected in a competitive process will travel to Japan for 9-days where they will visit a number of historical and educational sites, experience traditional and cultural activities, and participate in a homestay with a local family.
