Deadline:  20 March 2014
Open to: participants between the ages of 18 and 26 years old from all countries around the world
Venue: 26 July-02 August 2014, Tallinn, Estonia

Description

Model European Union Tallinn 2014 will take place from 26th of July to 2nd of August in Tallinn. It is the best time of the year to visit the warm, romantic, sunny, medieval capital of Estonia and spend time in an exceptionally beautiful and well-preserved old town – one of Unesco World Heritages. The simulation is managed by EU experts and chairs, who will guide you through the ordinary legislative procedure of the EU. Plus, all working sessions will be held in government offices and Ministries around the historic centre of Tallinn, so you would definitely get a feeling of being an actual decision-maker in the EU, while having this amazing scenery around you.

For five simulation days, participants will play the roles of MEPs in the European Parliament and Ministers in the Council of the EU and will discuss, debate and decide upon four Commission proposals currently on the EU agenda:

1. General Affairs – European Border Surveillance System (Eurosur) aiming to increase coordination within and between Member States, tackle cross-border crime and prevent irregular immigration: see the Commission proposal in GA and the Summary of it;

2. Justice and Home Affairs – Inclusion of the Kaliningrad area of Russian Federation and certain Polish administrative districts in the eligible border area to avoid their isolation from immediate neighbours: see the Commission proposal in JHA and the Summary of it;

3. Economic and Financial Affairs – Strengthening of economic and budgetary surveillance of Member States experiencing or threatened with serious difficulties with respect to their financial stability in the euro area: see the Commission proposal in ECOFIN and the Summary of it;

4. Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs – Approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States concerning the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products: see the Commission proposal in EPSCO and the Summary of it.
