Preparing Global Leaders Summit (PGLS 2015)

Deadline: 1 June 2015 Open to: participants between the ages of 18 and 35 years old Venue: 25-31 July 2015, Moscow, Russian Federation Description PGLS is a component school of Preparing Global Leaders Foundation (PGLF), an educational non-profit dedicated to changing the paradigm of leadership through intensive institutes, seminars, and summits. PGLF operates programs currently in Russia, Macedonia, Croatia, and Jordan and its program alumni hail from over a hundred countries. The Preparing Global Leaders Summit (PGLS) is a premiere international educational program for the best young professionals in the world. The program seeks to prepare aspiring global scholar-leaders with the tools that are necessary for effective leadership in an increasingly complex world. Students will join a distinguished faculty that includes PGLF founder Dr. Sam Potolicchio (Georgetown University, New York University, RANEPA), former Rhodes Scholar and current Columbia University Professor Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, and Dr. Branden Thornhill-Miller (Oxford, Sorbonne). Students and young professionals take short courses from internationally recognized faculty and participate in a range of leadership simulations. Specifically, participants will learn how to develop an opposable, interdisciplinary mind with an ability to work with and across ideological, national, religious, class and racial differences. They will learn how to communicate effectively, think both critically and creatively with a particular emphasis on how to advance the global public good. PGLS 2015 curricula and simulations will cover the following topics: negotiation, strategic thinking, public speaking, networking, persuasion, branding, public policy, statistics, comparative politics, demography, citizenship, civil wars, geopolitical strategy, Russia and the West, and Russian politics and history. Eligibility In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria: be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old; be linked to an organization or a network (e.g. youth council, youth NGO, not-profit organization, youth-led organization, community organization, faith-based organization, youth network or platform, college, university), or be a social entrepreneur, blogger, intern or volunteer; possess upper-intermediate English proficiency; complete at least first cycle of university studies. Costs The total price for PGLS 2015 is 1200 USD. The fee includes welcome and final dinners, accommodations, daily breakfast and lunch, tutorial materials, tuition and transportation to and from the airport. There are a number of generous merit-based scholarships offered for qualified participants. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you need to apply by June 1, 2015. Attach the Zip file to an email sent to pgls@pglf.org. You will receive a reply with our decision within 2 weeks of your application submission. Please note, that in case of acceptance you will need to reply within 3 weeks of the decision’s receipt. As soon as you reply, the PGLS team will send you a contract, the support letter for seeking additional funds in your university, organization or other. For the applicants who need a visa to enter Russia, a scanned invitation letter will be sent within 1 week from the receipt of the payment.
