Open Enrollment Application- City of Los Angeles Youth Ambassador 2016-2017 Cohort

The City of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission (City HRC), a neutral city department that mandates inter-group relations and impacts policy, is honored and pleased to announce the 2016-2017 open enrollment period has begun for our very popular, City of Los Angeles Youth Ambassador Cohort program.

The Youth Ambassador Cohort (Y.A.) program is an exciting opportunity for Los Angeles high school student’s 9th-11th grade from all socio-economic backgrounds and sectors of Los Angeles, to build leadership skills and get involved in public policy and civic engagement. The program has (12) workshops that occur on one Saturday per month and requires a one-year commitment. It uses the City of Los Angeles’ government landscape, including City Hall, Council Chambers, City Departments and their resources in a live classroom setting and culminates with an Inaugural experiential five-day trip to Washington D.C., where YA Cohort members tour the White House, meet with White House cabinet members, members of the U.S. Congress and tour the national monuments.

The objective is to equip each Youth Ambassador with a diverse cross-cultural experience and a global perspective and expertise on education, civic-engagement, leadership and volunteerism.

Interested students must submit their applications by the 5 p.m. on Friday April 1, 2016 deadline. Download the application form here!
