The post-cold war era witnessed the shift in conflict patterns from inter to intra state conflicts with more diverse and complex characteristics ranging from socio-economic and political to ethno-religious conflicts. The rise of extremism and terrorism has been perceived as global threat. Regime change and transitions has politicized the use of violence. Hegemony and power domination are destabilizing regions and countries. Regardless of its nature, modern day’s conflict has witnessed destructive violence with human casualties. Today, nearly 90 percent of current war casualties are civilians, the majority of whom are women and children. Violence against women is greatly exacerbated in conflict zones.
