Professional photojournalists can compete.
The Fujairah Culture and Media Authority has partnered with Agence France-Presse and National Geographic to organize the Fujairah International Photojournalism Competition (FIPCOM).
The competition aims to develop photojournalism in the UAE region and pay tribute to the outstanding work of journalists who risk their lives to further the democratic ideal defended by photojournalism.
The categories include news, environment, economy, sport, and feature.
The winner will receive a trophy and a prize of EUR10,000 (US$13,600). Runners-up in each category will receive a Nikon D800 digital SLR camera. Their work will also be displayed in two exhibitions, one in Paris, the second in the Emirate of Fujairah.
The deadline is Jan. 31.
