REACHING OUT TO NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH TO INSPIRE READING, WRITING, AND HIGHER EDUCATION

The Young Native Writers Essay Contest is a writing contest for Native American high school students and is designed to encourage young Native Americans to write about their experiences as a member of a Native American community and the culture that inspires them.

The voices that emerge from this program honor the legacy of every Native American who has ever lived. Add your words to the thousands submitted through this project – all writers receive a Certificate of Honor for their submission.

The Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation’s goal of promoting education and creating new opportunities for youth has inspired this essay contest. Partnering with Holland & Knight in this endeavor are the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Indian Education Association.

Deadline is April 15, 2015.

Summer Internships

A special word of acknowledgment to the Paul W. Zuccaire Foundation and its President, Alice Jean Zuccaire, who made possible this program’s launch in 2004.

The Undergraduate Internship Program

The Pasteur Foundation Summer Internship Program provides U.S. undergraduates, entering their Junior year, with the rare opportunity to work on supervised research projects at the Institut Pasteur. The Foundation’s goal is to encourage and inspire students in the pursuit of a scientific career and to expose them to an international laboratory experience.

Each year, selected laboratories at the Institut Pasteur host U.S. undergraduate students. See the Application Form for the list of summer 2015 lab hosts.

For answers to some of your questions, please download the FAQ.

Depending on availability, affordable housing in a residence on campus may be possible. Interns will receive the equivalent of a living allowance of $500 per week for a maximum of $5,000. Travel/housing are not paid by this program, but a $1,500 subsidy is provided and intended to defray costs of travel and requisite insurance.
