Youth Time International Movement is pleased to open applications for its latest Global Youth Forum 2017!

The event will take place in Dubai, UAE from November 23-27 and will gather together more than 100 participants from all over the world with the aim of discussing ideas and solutions for the most prevalent youth issues. The topic of the annual event is Ethical Entrepreneurship in the Time of a Competitive Knowledge-based Economy.

The main focus of this forum is set on thinking creatively as a young entrepreneur, taking into account social responsibility in a sustainable knowledge-based economy. This forum will provide an interactive platform for young social innovators to openly communicate, share ideas and experiences with their peers from different cultural backgrounds and regions around the globe.

This event will offer participants to connect and engage with other social entrepreneurs, as through networking they can find human support by like-minded people. Furthermore, participants will receive advice and guidance from experts and global think tanks in order to become inspired and find motivation to collaboratively lay down the foundations for their successful future.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Young people 18-35 from around the world;
  • Students, social entrepreneurs, young professionals, startups;
  • Fluent in English.

You can either apply as a project presenter, an interested participant or a journalist.

As an interested participant you can expect to:

  • Participate in educational and interactive talks and become inspired through workshops conducted by esteemed honorable guests.
  • Gain valuable new skills, knowledge and experiences that will serve as a solid foundation for your future entrepreneurial endeavors.
  • Have a fruitful working and learning experience in the amazing city of Dubai.
  • Have a unique opportunity to meet with 100+ likeminded people from across the globe.
  • Network with renowned professionals in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, science and technology.
  • Take part in a fantastic cultural exchange program which includes trips to see some of Dubai’s most iconic attractions and a desert safari.
  • The program, food, and twin room shared accommodation are covered by Youth Time and the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in the UAE. Please take into consideration that travel expenses are at your own expense.
  • Join each other in celebrating at our welcome and closing dinners and attend the project awarding ceremony.

As interested participant you are expected to:

  • Inspire and evaluate all projects that are presented to you during the event and vote for a winner.
  • After invitation pay an entrance fee (see details below). Only after payment your participation is guaranteed.
  • Take part in all workshops that are offered by the program.

As project presenter you can expect to:

  • Have the opportunity to present your social impact project with the chance of being awarded a grant to realize it or a scholarship.
  • Work on your project proposal with the supervision of an expert (in setting up business initiatives) before the event.
  • Get a platform to present your ideas. Have a unique opportunity to network with 150 like-minded people.
  • Participate in educational and interactive talks and become inspired through workshops conducted by esteemed honorable guests.
  • Gain valuable new skills, knowledge and experiences that will serve as a solid foundation for your future entrepreneurial endeavors.
  • Have a fruitful working and learning experience in the amazing city of Dubai.

As project presenter you are expected to:

  • After invitation pay an entrance fee (see details below). Please note that only after payment will we take your project into consideration.
  • Hand in the project proposals before Youth Time’s set deadlines.
  • Present project in front of all participants, experts and journalists at the event.
  • Gather 30% of the total required project budget yourself.
  • Take part in all workshops that are offered by the program.
  • Follow Youth Time’s Code of Conduct (see below).

Costs

The complete program is covered by Youth Time but please take into consideration that travel expenses are at your own expense. Hotel accommodation is partially sponsored by Youth Time and the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in the UAE. Participation fees will go toward the budget which will support the grant awarded to the 1st place project winner. Below you will find details on the participation fees.

Subsidiary Basic Participation

  • Registration fee excluding accommodation (only available for residents of Dubai): 150€ /650 AED (Includes attendance of opening and closing ceremonies, coffee breaks and lunches, cultural and education programs, participants kit).
  • Registration fee including twin room shared accommodation: 250€ /1082 AED (Includes attendance of opening and closing ceremonies, coffee breaks, all meals, cultural and education programs, participants kit)
  • Payment details will be provided to the selected participants in the official invitation.
  • Only after payment your participation is guaranteed.

Subsidiary Project Presenter Participation

  • Registration fee excluding accommodation (only available for residents of Dubai): 150€ /650 AED (Includes attendance of opening and closing ceremonies, coffee breaks and lunches, cultural and education programs, participants kit).
  • Registration fee including twin room shared accommodation: 180€ /780 AED (Includes attendance of opening and closing ceremonies, coffee breaks, all meals, cultural and education programs, presentation of the project during event, participants kits)
  • Payment details will be provided to the selected participants upon acceptance of the project proposal and will be sent in the official invitation.
  • Only after payment your participation and opportunity to present your project guaranteed.

Non-subsidiary Participation

As an NGO we will be glad to receive any kind of sponsorship. If you wish to support Youth Time International Movement, you can choose the non-subsidiary option which covers 100% costs of participation. Registration fee is 1000€/4330 AED which will include: accommodation in a single room, attendance of opening and closing ceremonies, coffee breaks, all meals, cultural and education programs, participants kit, presentation of project during event (in cases where you are a project presenter).

Call for Applications, Fully Funded Schwarzman Scholars Program

Description

Schwarzman Scholars has opened their global application for the third cohort of young leaders. The highly selective, fully-funded scholarship program is designed to ensure that the next generation of business, political, and civil society leaders can effectively serve as bridges between China and the rest of the world. Anchored in an 11-month professional Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Beijing’s prestigious Tsinghua University, the Schwarzman Scholars experience encompasses unparalleled opportunities inside and outside the classroom, including extensive leadership training, a network of senior mentors, practical training/internships, and travel seminars around China. Scholars will learn about the emergence of China as an economic and political force from world‐class faculty from leading institutions and guest speakers at the state‐of‐the‐art Schwarzman College. The dynamic core curriculum offers the choice of concentrations in public policy, international studies, or business and economics.

The scholarship aims to build a professionally diverse cohort each year and welcomes undergraduates, graduates, and young professionals up to age 28 of any citizenship who are proficient in English and have obtained an undergraduate degree. A Schwarzman Scholar should demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential, the ability to anticipate paradigm changes, strong intellectual capacity, and exemplary character. Eligible applicants from any field are invited to apply.

Eligibility

Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
Applicants who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements by August 1, 2018 before orientation begins. There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
Age Requirement.
Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1, 2018.
English language proficiency.
Applicants must demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. If the applicant’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. This requirement is waived for applicants who studied at an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program.  The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied in English for two or more years at a Master’s degree level or higher.Acceptable test options are:< >Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT)Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)International English Language Testing System (IELTS)will still be required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score above the minimum requirements for Schwarzman Scholars before March 1 of 2018.

This requirement is waived for applicants who graduated from an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT PART OF MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Marital status. Married applicants may apply and will be at no disadvantage in the application process. Spouses/partners may accompany Schwarzman Scholars to Beijing, but Scholars are expected to live in the dormitory and participate fully in the program like single students. Spouses/partners may not live in the dormitory, and no additional funding will be provided to support spouses/partners living off-campus.
There are no citizenship or nationality requirements.
Grade point average/class rank/pre-requisites. Academic excellence will be a requirement for successful applicants, but there is no minimum GPA or class rank required to apply. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in their academic studies, and the most competitive candidates will be among the top students in their graduating class. There are no course prerequisites for applicants to the program, although some individual classes at Tsinghua University may have prerequisites.

Scholarship

The extraordinary students selected to become Schwarzman Scholars will receive a comprehensive scholarship. It will include:

  • Tuition Fees
  • Room and board
  • Travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year
  • An in-country study tour
  • Required course books and supplies
  • Lenovo laptop and smartphone
  • Health insurance
  • A personal stipend of $3,500

With a $450 million endowment, Schwarzman Scholars will be the single largest philanthropic effort ever undertaken in China by largely international donors.

Interested candidates will participate in a rigorous and thorough selection process, designed to identify the most promising young leaders from around the world. Eligibility

To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes, so please refer to your country page for further details)
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 12 July 2018
