Undergraduate Internship Program – National Clandestine Service

Work Schedule: Full Time

The National Clandestine Service (NCS) is the covert arm of the CIA.

NCS interns support the NCS mission of collecting human intelligence on critical international developments. Interns will work in the Washington, D.C. area with teams of knowledgeable professionals.

Student internship positions offer salaries competitive with the private sector and the same benefits as permanent employees.

This program is designed for undergraduate students interested in a NCS career via the NCS Professional Trainee Program. Interns are generally Freshmen at the time of application and have minimal professional work experience.

Program Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • 3.0 GPA or better at the time of application and maintained throughout the program
  • Anticipated graduation date of May/June 2018
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Enrollment in a 4-year academic institution with at least one semester completed by the time of application. Please include your college/university information under the Education Section of the on-line application with your anticipated graduation date
  • Availability to complete two 90-day NCS summer internships in the Washington D.C. area; the first will start May or June 2016 and the second will start May or June 2017

  • Impeccable integrity, outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and commitment to serving the interests of our country
  • Interest in foreign affairs and national security issues
  • Interest in and ability to meet requirements for the Professional Trainee Programfollowing graduation
  • Due to processing requirements, the NCS will not consider applicants who plan to travel out of country for more than 90 consecutive days between January 2015 and May 2016. Extended foreign travel is discouraged between January 2017 and May 2017 as well
  • Successful completion of medical and polygraph examinations as well as a background investigation by May 2016
  • Foreign language skills, overseas experience are desirable but not required

Minimum requirements:

Please list in the Education Section of the online application your college/university information with your GPA and anticipated graduation date. Under preferences and Job Objective, please explain why you would like an internship with the NCS and what makes you a good candidate.

International Cultural Fellowships in St. Petersburg, Russia

Description

The Likhachev Foundation (St. Petersburg, Russia) together with Committee on External Relations of Saint Petersburg and B. Yeltsin Presidential Center (Moscow, Russia) announces a competition for ten 2-week cultural fellowships in Russia (St. Petersburg) from May 11 till May 24, 2015.

The fellowships are open to professional in the field or arts and culture who work on projects related to Russian culture. The creative project could be a museum exhibition project, a theater production, a film, a photo exhibition, preparation of fiction or research books, etc. related to Russian culture or history. The creative project should be conceived in a foreign country and should be aimed at a broad audience. Two-week residency in Russia should serve as an important stage in the realization of the applicant’s cultural project.

The Likhachev Foundation will prepare individual programs for the fellows according to their projects’ specifics, to help them achieve maximum results during their fellowships. These programs will include meetings with Russian colleagues, opportunities to work at St. Petersburg museums, libraries, archives, and other organizations. Thank you for supporting!

Eligibility

The Likhachev Foundation accepts applications from professionals in the field of culture and history or arts from foreign countries who are currently working on creative projects related to Russian culture or history. Command of the Russian language is very helpful but not required.

Fellowship

The organizers will cover accommodation and travel costs to and from St. Petersburg.

The CrossCulture Internships Program 2015

Description

The CrossCulture Internships program, launched by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa,) is an intercultural exchange program. It enables internships for young professionals and volunteers from the participating countries and aims to strengthen networks between Germany and the Islamic world.

Internships last between eight weeks and three months and are offered in the following work areas: society & education; legal dialogue, justice & human rights; international politics & civic education; environment; economy & development cooperation; and media, culture & art.

Eligibility

Professionals and volunteers ages 23 to 45 from Germany, South and Central Asia, and other Islamic countries can participate in this exchange program.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the German language is desirable.

Remuneration

Internships cover a monthly scholarship of EU550, visa fees, health insurance and accommodations.

Summer Fellowship at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC)

Higher Education:  The Glenn Research Center (GRC) manages and implements a number of NASA and Center-unique Higher Education (HE) programs for college STEM students. The programs for undergraduate and graduate students embody opportunities in NASA Internships, Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) some of which are offered on-site at GRC, while others are attainable on university and college campuses.  On-site GRC tenure for students is typically complemented with developmental programs to enrich/enhance participants’ experience. In particular, the HE programs seek to:

  1. Train students in the conduct of research, while instilling in them STEM competencies needed for next the generation of scientists and engineers, to help replenish and sustain NASA and theUS workforce;
  2. Promote the infusion of NASA mission content in classroom teaching, to help keep students motivated in STEM courses, leading to related careers to promote advancement of NASA mission.

 

Lewis’ Educational and Research Collaborative Internship Project (LERCIP) is a Center-unique ten week paid summer college internship experience at the NASA Glenn Research facility.  Internships are in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, as well as the non-STEM professional business career majors that provide support to NASA’s mission.  LERCIP provides opportunities to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students.  LERCIP interns are involved in mission-related projects under the guidance of a GRC mentor and subject matter expert who engages them in exciting work with exposure to state-of-the-art technology.  The dates of the two sessions are below.

 

  • Session #1:  June 1, 2015 – August 7, 2015
  • Session #2:  June 15, 2015 – August 21, 2015

The application period for the White House Internship Program is now open. The application deadline for the Summer 2015 program is January 11, 2015.

Am I eligible to apply for a White House Internship?

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) no more than two years before the first day of the internship
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship

Am I available for the White House Internship Program?

All White House Interns are expected to intern full-time for the entire term of the program.

Selection Criteria

Selection as a White House Fellow is based on a combination of the following criteria:

  • A record of remarkable professional achievement early in one’s career.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and the potential for further growth.
  • A demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • The skills to succeed at the highest levels of the Federal government, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

All these qualities combined with the strength of one’s character, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with others are taken into consideration when selecting a class of White House Fellows.

Recommendation Letters

Applicants will be asked to submit the names and email addresses of three recommenders (and one alternate recommender) within the application portal. We encourage you to complete this section of the application as early as possible to ensure that recommenders have ample time to submit letters of recommendation.

We also strongly encourage you to provide diverse letters of recommendation (i.e. academia, professional, community service). It is best to have recommendations from individuals who know you well and can fully answer the questions that are asked in the application. For example, a recommendation letter from a prominent person is not helpful if that individual cannot speak about your background and character.

At least one recommendation should be from an individual that can speak to your professional competence and accomplishments in your field. At least one recommendation should come from someone with knowledge of your community and civic activities. In addition, one recommendation should be from your current supervisor, if applicable. A recommendation from a prior supervisor is acceptable, but a current supervisor is preferred.

Please take caution when submitting your recommenders’ information to avoid mistakes, as this section of the application will be locked once you submit the information and the only way to make changes is through Technical Services atWHFApplication@opm.gov.

Your recommender will receive automated instructions on how to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf within 24 hours. White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Internship Program

The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Washington, D.C., offers full-time internships during the spring, summer, and fall. Part-time applicants who can commit to at least 20 hours a week will be considered, although the Initiative prioritizes full-time applicants (32-40 hours a week).

The Initiative is responsible for the implementation of the President’s Executive Order 13515, dated October 14, 2009.  Its purpose is to develop, monitor, and coordinate executive branch efforts to improve the quality of life of AAPIs through increased participation in federal programs.  The Initiative is housed at the Department of Education but its scope is government-wide.

Interns at the Initiative are responsible for assisting the staff on a wide range of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues and priorities, including capacity-building, civil rights, data disaggregation, economic development, education, health, immigration, language access, and workforce diversity.  In addition, interns will help write policy memos and proposals, draft blogs, assist with communications and social media, coordinate and staff events, and conduct outreach to national and local AAPI organizations and leaders.

Applicants for intern positions must be undergraduates or graduate students who are enrolled at least half-time.  Ideally, the candidate will already be familiar with AAPI issues and have outstanding research, writing, communications, and computer skills.

The Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years after degree completion to apply). Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. The program lasts for 1 year (unless the training requirements of the position warrant a longer and more structured training program).

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is a flagship leadership development program at the entry-level for advanced degree candidates.
