The Terra Summer Residency Fellowships for Artists

Description

Each summer the Terra Foundation offers ten residential fellowships for emerging artists and doctoral scholars in the history of American art and visual culture at its properties in Giverny, France. The Terra Summer Residency (TSR) offers opportunities to pursue individual work within a framework of interdisciplinary exchange and cross-cultural dialogue. During this 9-week period, fellows interact regularly with invited senior advisors and guest lecturers, who direct weekly seminars and hold individual meetings. Private visits to exhibitions and attendance of special conferences are also proposed. In addition to the fellowship stipend, fellows are provided with on-site lodging, working facilities and lunches for the duration of the residency. At the end of the program, fellows share the work that was accomplished during the residency and the artists present their work in the open studios. The program encourages fellows to make lifelong connections and become part of the international alumni community of Terra fellows.

Eligibility

Candidates worldwide can apply. Applicants must be either:

  • A visual artist with a master’s degree or its equivalent at the time of application. Preference is given to applicants who have completed their degree within the past five years.
  • A doctoral candidate researching American art and visual culture prior to 1980 within the United States or in the context of international artistic exchange. Candidates should be at an advanced stage of their doctoral research and writing.

Fellowship

Terra Summer Residency fellows receive:

  • A $5,000 stipend (artists receive an additional $300 for the purchase of materials);
  • A travel contribution (up to $250 for individuals traveling from Europe; up to $1,000 for individuals traveling from outside Europe); and
  • Lodging in the Terra Foundation residences and daily lunches

The Summer Peacebuilding Program 2015 in California, United States

Description

We are excited to launch the Summer Peacebuilding Program (SPP), a three-week long intensive training program designed to bridge the theory and practice of building peace in societies that are emerging from conflict, violence or war.

SPP builds on the ‘Peace’ dimension that was explored for two years (2013 and 2014) in the Peace, Trade and Development program. SPP provides an opportunity for participants to learn from the experiences and approaches of scholars and practitioners who work on some of the most difficult challenges our world faces today, including: resolving conflict, ending all forms of violence, providing social justice, and creating more secure and developed societies by transforming the conditions and relationships of conflict. SPP therefore welcomes all those interested in exploring the above-mentioned topics  through a process of self-reflection, gathering of theoretical and conceptual data and its application to real world problems.

The 2015 program will run from July 27 to August 14, 2015. The first week of SPP is residential at the Mount Madonna Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences (http://www.mountmadonna.org/) in Watsonville, CA. The second and third weeks of SPP will be held at the MIIS campus (www.miis.edu) in Monterey with a lodging option within walking distance to campus.

Eligibility

Students and practitioners in the field of conflict, peace, development and security studies are eligible to apply.

Costs

The SPP program cost, which covers lodging for three weeks, board for week one and all course related expenses for three weeks is USD 3500. Course fees for Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) students are USD 3000. Students can receive academic credits for the program (paying additional tuition fees as required by their own educational institution)

Scholarships

There are two types of scholarships available:

An early bird discount. Those applying before midnight on Feb. 15, 2015 can take USD 250 off the program cost.There are two merit scholarships of USD 500 available to two highly qualified and deserving candidates. Candidates must send in a letter along with their application addressing the scholarship criteria. Deservedness will be decided using the following criteria:

  1. High GPA/ Strong academic record
  2. Work experience in the field of Conflict Studies
  3. Displays strong motivation to work in the field of Conflict Studies
  4. Financial Constraints

The two scholarships may not be combined. Scholarship decisions will be made by March 15, 2015. Scholarships are not available to MIIS students.

International Winter School 2015 in Kraków, Poland

The Centre for European Studies, Jagiellonian University and the ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo are pleased to invite MA and Phd students, as well as anyone interested in the topic  to participate in the international Winter School in English:  “Democracy, expertise and power: the role of experts in modern European societies “

International Winter School will take place 7-15 February 2015, in Krakow, Poland. Participants will take part in seminars conducted by experts from both Jagiellonian and Oslo University on the following issues:

  • the knowledge society, from a theoretical and practical dimension; experts and their role in modern democracies;
  • the role of universities in creating knowledge and implementing the public change;
  • the media as the fourth power; models of democracy;
  • and finally civil society and social movements as new actors on the political scene.

The discussions will enable participants to answer the question of whether knowledge is the driving force of modern democracy or a tool in the hands of technocrats and bureaucrats.

The Winter School welcomes all countries’ MA, Phd students as well as alumni or participants interested in the topic.

Generous Scholarship – Peter J. Hengel Thai Scholarship Program

The eligibility requirements are:

–        Males of Thai descent, age 23 or younger

–        High school seniors or current postsecondary undergraduates who are

–        Planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in Minnesota.

 

This very generous scholarship is intended to provide for 100% of the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies. The scholarship is renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, as long as the recipient maintains full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic performance. Courses of study that take longer than four years may extend renewal eligibility if funding is available. Awards are for undergraduate study at a college or university within the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.

 

I have attached one file which contains the necessary paperwork associated with this program. It contains the program Guidelines, a form which explains how to complete the financial data section of the application and the application itself. The application postmark deadline is December 20th and is fast approaching. We ask that each applicant fill out the application completely and send an applicant appraisal, a transcript of grades from the past four years and pages 1 and 2 of parent or applicant tax return along with the application itself to the address listed on page 3 of the application.

Organization ”Opportunity Development’‘ is the main organizer of the Y2Y Summit 2015 in Lithuania, while e-globalknowledge is the main content contributor of the summit.

Organization ”Opportunity Development” is aiming to facilitate the dialogue across cultures, countries and various environments and bring a new edge to the debate on the contemporary challenges by providing both a platform online and offline for young activists.

E-globalknowledge movement is run by young people for young people which aim is to engage more actively youth in an entire range of global issues and speak up.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • citizen of any country across the world
  • be no younger than 18 and no older than 35 years old
  • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and potential to become a key leader in your community
  • passion to create positive social change and willingness to use Y2Y experience in your leadership position
  • have some experience active either in politics (local, national, or international), civil society organizations, media, the business sector, local communities, faith based movements, and other fields
  • good working knowledge of written and spoken English

Costs

Please note that while we offer a number of fee waivers and scholarships for travel, we will probably not be able to fund all the participant’s attendance. The following fees have been established:

  • 100 Euros for international participants residing outside Lithuania.
  • 100 Euros for Lithuanian participants (accommodation covered).
  • 30 Euros for Lithuanian participants (accommodation not covered).
  • The fee covers accommodation, food, materials for sessions.
  • The participation cost has been set with a view that it is considerably affordable for participants coming from all backgrounds. However, international participants are expected to cover their return traveling expenses and visa cost.

We value diversity and unique perspectives. The organising team will select participants with varied professional and academic backgrounds. The candidates will be selected from a competitive pool based on their expertise and will ensure a geographical and gender balance.

  • Round 1 is based on application form. We will pre-select up to 150 participants for the skype interview.
  • Round 2 is based on Skype Interview. We will select 60 international and 20 Lithuanian delegates

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme

Open to: excellent students wishing to obtain a Master’s or Phd degree in French higher educations institutions
Scholarship: monthly stipend of €1,181 for master students or €1,400 for doctoral students

Description

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme was established by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development to enable French higher education establishments to attract top foreign students to enroll in their master’s and PhD courses.

The Eiffel scholarships are available in three main fields:

  • Engineering science at master’s level, science in the broadest sense at PhD level (engineering science; exact sciences: mathematics, physics, chemistry and life sciences, nano- and biotechnology, earth sciences, sciences of the universe, environmental sciences, information and communication science and technology);
  • Economics and management;
  • Law and political sciences.

Eligibility

The programme is reserved for candidates of non-French nationality. For master’s courses, candidates must be no older than 30 years old and for the PhD program candidates must be below 35 years old. Students undertaking a course of study abroad take priority over those already living in France.

Scholarship

  • Master’s level: the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,181. In addition, the programe meets various expenses including return trip, social security cover and cultural activities. Scholarship-holders might also be eligible for additional accomodation allowance.
  • PhD level: the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,400. In addition, the programme meets various expenses including return travel, social security cover and cultural activities. Scholarship-holders might also be eligible for additional accommodation allowance.

The Eiffel Programme does not cover tuition fees.

Applications are not accepted from students directly. Applications for EIFFEL scholarships are submitted by French Higher Education Institutions. The French higher education institutions screen candidates they submit to the Eiffel program among foreign students they wish to receive for training.  You must apply and meet the requirements of the French Institution in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Description

The European University Institute (EUI) offers graduate students a unique opportunity to study in an international setting with an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together leading scholars in each subject area. Most alumni go on to take up positions in academia across Europe and beyond, while many also work in EU institutions, national governments or the private sector, as well as international organisations.  The campus, also home to the Historical Archives of the European Union and a first-class library, is spread out across the Tuscan hillside overlooking Florence. It is two hours by train to Milan or Rome, and there are international flights from airports at Florence, Pisa and Bologna to many destinations.
