The EcoCup Environmental Film Festival 2014

Description

The 6th ECOCUP Green Documentary Film Festival will take place in Moscow in February 2015.ECOCUP Green Documentary Film Festival’s aim is to present and promote movies and videos that deals with issues and problems related to the environment.The EcoCup Environmental Film Festival in Russia features the best domestic and foreign environmental films for the Russian audience. Documentary films, long and short features and animations are accepted.

All films selected by the organizers will be shown as part of the EcoCup festival program, which will take place in Moscow and other cities in Russia in 2015.

  • Registration is free of charge.
  • The shipping costs of all material entered are to be covered by the entrants.
  • Festival does not pay the screening fee.
  1. All films in foreign languages will be subtitled to Russian language or simultaneously translated.
  2. All Festival documents will be published in Russian.

Filmmakers all over the world can submit works to this international festival.

Awards

Official prizes will be assigned by qualified juries, each composed of at least three members, appointed by the Festival’s Direction. Prizes will be announced in November, 2014.

A copy of the entry form will be authomatically sent to the Festival’s e-mail. The submission of the entry-form constitutes the acceptance of all rules hereby described.

One Month Visits to Austria!

Description

The main purpose of the scholarship is to enable scientific staff of universities to do research at Austrian universities in the context of master or doctoral studies (an age limit of 45 years applies). targeted countries: Applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

The role of WUS Austria is to promote the program and provide information to interested persons; further information can also be obtained at the Institute of International Law and International Relations/University of Graz, which is in charge of selecting the candidates. Implementation of the program is carried out by the Austrian Exchange Service (OeAD-GmbH), which takes care of accommodation arrangements and payment of the grant. The grant letter sent by the OeAD-GmbH can be used for obtaining a visa if applicable.

This Austrian programme offers professors and assistants of public universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia the possibility to spend one month at an Austrian university for a research visit provided an Austrian university institution is ready to ensure the supervision.

Sri Lanka Government Scholarships for Foreign Students – 2014/15

Applications are invited from eligible students for the award of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships offered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sri Lanka under the Government of Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students for the academic year 2014/15 and the courses are to commence in December 2014. Since this is a government to government scholarship program, candidates should apply for this scholarship with the recommendation of the government scholarship nominating agency (Ministry / Institution) of the respective country. Scholarships are open for courses of studies other than Medical & Dental Sciences.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to international students. Applicants who are citizens of another country having Sri Lankan dual citizenship are not eligible to apply.

For undergraduate applicants: 

  • Candidates with impressive results of an examination deemed equivalent to G.C.E. (Advance Level) Examination of Sri Lanka
  • Be less than 25 years of age on 15.10.2014
  • A minimum score of 525 on TOEFL or 6.0 on IELTS

For postgraduate applicants:

  • Applicants should possess a first degree from a recognized university with good academic merit to enroll a Masters degree and for PhD studies, Master/MPhil degree is required in addition to the first degree

  • A minimum score of 550 on TOEFL or 6.5 on IELTS

International Youth Forum-2014 (Lutsk, Ukraine)

Description

On October 18-19, 2014 the Ukrainian city of Lutsk will host the II International Youth Forum-2014 that will become a meeting place for the active youth from many countries.

The organizers strive to create the best working conditions for the Forum participants to exchange experience and ideas in order to create and maintain cooperation.

During the two Forum days participants will take part in presentations, discussions, panels, workshops and indulge the Lutsk city tour.

Various presentations of international funds and Ukrainian charity organizations will be a valuable initiative that will help young activists to find the financial help for their creative projects. Also the Forum encourages young leaders to take part in a contest of project ideas. The best idea will be awarded.

The Forum organizers invited VIP-guests to share their experiences with the youth and talk in informal environment.

The international Forum guests will learn about the civic sector of the Volyn region of Ukraine when attending meetings, workshops and seminars.

Win a 10-day Filmmaking Assignment to Capture Day of the Dead in Mexico!

Description

World Nomads is accepting applications for a travel film scholarship. The winner will spend 10 days documenting the Dia de los Muertos festivities in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He or she will also be mentored by filmmaker and director Brian Rapsey.

Don’t be misled by the name, this ‘spirited’ festival is marked by ceremonies that both honor the dear departed while simultaneously rejoicing in everything living.

On assignment, you will be mentored by veteran filmmaker and director, Brian Rapsey, who will help you hone your craft to become a better storyteller. From your experiences, you will be tasked with producing 4x three-minute travel-themed videos that we will share with the world!

You need to be available to be in Mexico from October 30-November 10, 2014 to participate in the assignment.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Any non-professionals can apply – this is open to film students, or anyone who’s trying to build a career in film making and/or presenting!
  • Minimum age 18 (by application deadline, September 17th) with a current, valid passport and you must be available as per the dates set out. Please note these dates are not changeable in any way.
  •  You may be a resident of any country (subject to obtaining a Mexican visa).
  • You should be a mad-keen auteur with a lust for adventure and burning desire to be a filmmaker and/or presenter.
  • You must be fit and healthy as moderate levels of physical work are involved as well as a number of late nights!

Costs

The winner will receive airfare from the country of residence to Mexico, recording gear and and travel insurance. The winner will be expected to produce four, three-minute videos for the World Nomads site.

Alumni Small Grants Program 2014-2015

Grants: max: $3,000 for alumni groups and $1,000 for individuals.

Description

The US-Educated Alumni Small Grants Program (ASG) is intended to sustain the alumni community and maintain alumni activities by engaging and motivating alumni of various U.S. Exchange programs to participate in community development projects. It seeks to encourage inter-alumni networking, as well as civic engagement by alumni with the broader Azerbaijani Society. The ASG program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan and administrated by the US-Educated Azerbaijani Alumni Association (AAA).

Objectives of the ASG:

  • To encourage projects that aim to give back to the community (such as regional outreach projects);
  • To partner with a public institution and initiative a public or community service program;
  • To provide extended support for alumni events or to organize alumni networking opportunities to provide a unified environment, where alumni not only gather but also produce contributing outcome for the general public;
  • To organize training programs or conferences for professional development of colleagues and/or other alumni (Topics may vary from education and sport to environment).

Eligibility

The grants are open to both USG alumni groups (minimum three alumni) and individual alumni. International and local NGOs, foreign citizens and non-alumni groups are not eligible for grants.

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Applicant/s must be alumni at the time of application;
  • Applicant/s must currently be residing in the republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Alumni and recipients of all U.S. Government-funded exchange and training programs, including ECA, USAID, USDA trainings, as well as others with a U.S. Government alumni connection are eligible to apply;
  • Funded projects can start from September 30, 2014 and end before March 31, 2015 (Project activities can only start after signing grant agreement with AAA).

Grant

The grant funding may not exceed $3,000 for alumni groups and $1,000 for individuals.

The School in Philosophy, Economics and Politics 2014 in Romania

The Center for Institutional Analysis and Development – Eleutheria (CADI), The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), The Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies (CES), The Institute for Economic Studies Europe (IES- Europe) and The Society for Individual Freedom (SoLib) are receiving applications for The September School of Economics, Politics and Philosophy, scheduled for September 23 – 28, 2014 at a hotel in Brasov (exact location to be updated soon).

This year’s event focuses on the future of freedom and prosperity in Europe.

Eligibility

Applicants would be students and graduates in human and social sciences and in other fields who are interested in the value of liberty.

Costs

Classes, room and board (but not transportation) are paid by the organizers for at least 35 participants. More unsponsored places are also available, please inquire if interested.

Youth in Peace Education International Training 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey

Description

The International Youth Leadership Academy (IYLA) created and based in Istanbul by a community of international and Turkish partner organizations, including UNICEF, is a space for non-formal education, capacity building and enhancement of leadership skills for youth.

The proposed international training program of IYLA will take place on 22-28 September 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. The training will be conducted based on the experience and knowledge of experts and trainers from Habitat Center for Development and Governance and UNICEF long with Peace Educators. The main aim of this programme is to develop the capacity of local youth leaders and to support them to actively contribute to their own communities in building peace and to increase their role in peaceful activities.

Eligibility

Participants will be selected from countries in the CEE, CIS and MENA regions. Young people from other parts of the world are also encouraged but the priority will be given to the applications from those given regions. Application criteria are as follows:

  • be between 15 and 29 years of age,
  • have the ability to use English as the working language throughout the training program,
  • represent a youth NGO (priority will be given to those that work on conflict resolution or/peace studies as well as youth participation)
  • and/or be in youth work (as a volunteer or as a fresh professional)
  • be willing to play an active role in the sessions,
  • be able and willing to follow the process and actively implement the activities required by the programme,
  • have the opportunity to share their new knowledge, skills and contacts within their own organizations following the program,
  • be committed to carrying out follow-up activities and be active in localising the knowledge,

 

Working language of the program will be English. Participants should be proficient in English. Training participants will be selected based on gender-equality and diversity of background. Selection will be conducted through the criteria mentioned above.

Costs

Travel costs and accommodation (including meals) will be covered by the program. Only selected applicants will be informed about this process.

National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants

Grant:  5.000-15.000 US dollars

Description

The National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants Program funds projects that require venture capital, supporting exceptional projects while foregoing a time-consuming peer-review process. NGS/Waitt grants are able to fund “proof of concept” research for applicants at an earlier stage in their careers than other NGS grant programs. Special emphasis is placed on expedited grant processing and turnaround.

Eligibility

The National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants Program supports a variety of project, that are generally not covered by other sources of funding. Waitt Grants Program will fund worldwide internationals who are able to show  a commensurate level of expertise and experience, but are not required to have an  advanced degrees to be eligible for funding.

Grant

National Geographic Society/Waitt grants are awarded on a rolling basis and range from U.S. $5,000-$15,000. There is no set quantity of grants awarded, but budget constraints keep the number to approximately a hundred per year.

Grant restrictions:

  • National Geographic Society grants may not be used for indirect costs or expenses not directly related to the project. This does not exclude salaries and fringe benefits.
  • Funds may not be used for travel to scientific/professional meetings or conferences, legal actions, land acquisition, endowments, construction of permanent field stations or publishing research results.
  • Grant recipients are expected to provide the National Geographic Society with rights of first refusal for popular publication of their findings.

Application

You can apply for  grant from the National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants program through the online application system available here. The applicants should provide information about themselves, the project and  budget. After you submit your application the selection committee will elaborate your application and project, and will make a decision within 10 weeks of application submission. Applicants planning work in foreign countries should include at least one local collaborator as part of their research teams. The selection committee will not consider applications seeking support only for laboratory work or archival research.

The Japan Foreign Trade Council Essay Competition 2014

The Japan Foreign Trade Council (JFTC) is calling for students, young researchers or business people around the globe to participate in the JFTC Essay competition 2014 and express their opinions on matters of national and international importance.
You can choose between the following two topics:

  • Future of the “SHOSHA” in the Global Economy;
  • Toward Developing Japan’s “Resources” by 2020: A Strategy for Utilizing Them for the Benefit of the World.

Eligibility

Anyone can dive in the essay competition regardless of nationality or age.

Awards

The Japan Foreign Trade Council will award:

  • 1.000.000 JPY (7,290 EUR) for the winner;
  • up to 3 awards of 200.000 JPY (1,458 EUR)-Prize of Excellence.

The winners announcement will be made on 12 December 2014. For the international winners JFTC will provide round-trip air-ticket to Tokyo, Japan to attend the award ceremony to be held on 7 January 2015.
