The School of Fundamental Diplomatic Skills is a course designed for university students, recent graduates and young professionals who recognize the value and necessity of soft skills expected by employers and recruiters from diplomatic and international business sectors. Student’s Model United Nations 2014 Banja Luka

Description

SMUN is an MUN (Model United Nations) conference organized by NGO “Center for Studies of National Development” (www.anr.edu.rs) from Belgrade, Serbia and Student’s club of Faculty of Political Science Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina(http://klubstudenatafpn.wix.com/klubstudenata)  that aims to simulate the work of UN bodies and to, by doing that, educate and prepare young students from all over the world regardless of their current studies for service in diplomacy and to promote and share values of informal education  and the importance of understanding decision making process used by UN. The main goal of the conference is the encouragement of networking within the future decision makers.

Conference will take place in Banja Luka, and it will last from 16th till 19th of the October this year. S MUN will simulate the work of International Court of Justice, UN Security Council and Human Rights Council.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old on 16 October 2014
  • possesing intermediate level of English language
  • hold a passport valid until at least April 2015
  • interesting in the field of diplomacy, international relations and international law

Basic participation fee: 15 euros/20 KM/  1500 RSD

This fee covers:-all conference materials,certificate, entrance to all social events, sightseeing

It is planned that the maximum number of participants in the simulation is 80. The final list, which will contain the names and surnames of the participants and accurately determined the number will be available to participants and to all contributors and interested individuals and legal entities, in early October 2014, the sites of The Student’s Club of Faculty of Political Science, Banja Luka and the Center for Studies National Development in Belgrade. If the additional needs of the participants are identified during the preparation for the simulation, there is a possibility of extension to a particular task.

Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar 2014 in Ljubljana, Slovenia

The Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia is a voluntary, non-profit and non-governmental interest and expert association. Their aim is to contribute to an active role played by the Republic of Slovenia in ensuring peace, security, and democratic stability in the Euro-Atlantic area through the EU and NATO. Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar is a youth oriented security seminar, which goal is to connect youth from the region and beyond, discuss relevant security related topics, and search for fresh views and solutions to the most pressing regional issues.

The Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar is intended for students, young professionals, future leaders and active individuals who are:

  • 20 – 35 years of age;
  • interested in the security field and familiar with the seminar topics;
  • able to communicate and work in English language;
  • open to enrich their knowledge and awareness regarding the security and cooperation in the Balkans with a special emphasis to the issues of youth and display a commitment to promote positive changes;

Cyber Threats Workshop ( 9, 10,11 October 2014)

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is organizing the third edition of the Cyber Threats Workshop within the framework of its Journalism and Public Information Programmeon New Threats. The programme is tailored to journalists, chief information officers and those who want to specialize in public information and journalism. The focus of the upcoming workshop is on cyber crime, internet governance and the role of media.

The Cyber Threats Workshop will take place from the 9th to the 11th October 2014 at the United Nations Campus in Turin, Italy.

Key topics addressed include:

  • Evolution of the digital society and modern vulnerabilities
  • Understanding cyber warfare, cyber terrorism and cyber espionage
  • Online crimes against property and persons

One Month Visits to Austria!

The main purpose of the scholarship is to enable scientific staff of universities to do research at Austrian universities in the context of master or doctoral studies (an age limit of 45 years applies). targeted countries: Applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

The role of WUS Austria is to promote the program and provide information to interested persons; further information can also be obtained at the Institute of International Law and International Relations/University of Graz, which is in charge of selecting the candidates. Implementation of the program is carried out by the Austrian Exchange Service (OeAD-GmbH), which takes care of accommodation arrangements and payment of the grant. The grant letter sent by the OeAD-GmbH can be used for obtaining a visa if applicable.

This Austrian programme offers professors and assistants of public universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia the possibility to spend one month at an Austrian university for a research visit provided an Austrian university institution is ready to ensure the supervision.

International Youth Forum-2014 (Lutsk, Ukraine)

On October 18-19, 2014 the Ukrainian city of Lutsk will host the II International Youth Forum-2014 that will become a meeting place for the active youth from many countries.

The organizers strive to create the best working conditions for the Forum participants to exchange experience and ideas in order to create and maintain cooperation.

During the two Forum days participants will take part in presentations, discussions, panels, workshops and indulge the Lutsk city tour.

Various presentations of international funds and Ukrainian charity organizations will be a valuable initiative that will help young activists to find the financial help for their creative projects. Also the Forum encourages young leaders to take part in a contest of project ideas. The best idea will be awarded.

The Forum organizers invited VIP-guests to share their experiences with the youth and talk in informal environment.

The international Forum guests will learn about the civic sector of the Volyn region of Ukraine when attending meetings, workshops and seminars.

Win a 10-day Filmmaking Assignment to Capture Day of the Dead in Mexico!

Description

World Nomads is accepting applications for a travel film scholarship. The winner will spend 10 days documenting the Dia de los Muertos festivities in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He or she will also be mentored by filmmaker and director Brian Rapsey.

Don’t be misled by the name, this ‘spirited’ festival is marked by ceremonies that both honor the dear departed while simultaneously rejoicing in everything living.

On assignment, you will be mentored by veteran filmmaker and director, Brian Rapsey, who will help you hone your craft to become a better storyteller. From your experiences, you will be tasked with producing 4x three-minute travel-themed videos that we will share with the world!

You need to be available to be in Mexico from October 30-November 10, 2014 to participate in the assignment.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Any non-professionals can apply – this is open to film students, or anyone who’s trying to build a career in film making and/or presenting!
  • Minimum age 18 (by application deadline, September 17th) with a current, valid passport and you must be available as per the dates set out. Please note these dates are not changeable in any way.
  •  You may be a resident of any country (subject to obtaining a Mexican visa).
  • You should be a mad-keen auteur with a lust for adventure and burning desire to be a filmmaker and/or presenter.
  • You must be fit and healthy as moderate levels of physical work are involved as well as a number of late nights!

Costs

The winner will receive airfare from the country of residence to Mexico, recording gear and and travel insurance. The winner will be expected to produce four, three-minute videos for the World Nomads site.

Alumni Small Grants Program 2014-2015

Grants: max: $3,000 for alumni groups and $1,000 for individuals.

Description

The US-Educated Alumni Small Grants Program (ASG) is intended to sustain the alumni community and maintain alumni activities by engaging and motivating alumni of various U.S. Exchange programs to participate in community development projects. It seeks to encourage inter-alumni networking, as well as civic engagement by alumni with the broader Azerbaijani Society. The ASG program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan and administrated by the US-Educated Azerbaijani Alumni Association (AAA).

Objectives of the ASG:

  • To encourage projects that aim to give back to the community (such as regional outreach projects);
  • To partner with a public institution and initiative a public or community service program;
  • To provide extended support for alumni events or to organize alumni networking opportunities to provide a unified environment, where alumni not only gather but also produce contributing outcome for the general public;
  • To organize training programs or conferences for professional development of colleagues and/or other alumni (Topics may vary from education and sport to environment).

Eligibility

The grants are open to both USG alumni groups (minimum three alumni) and individual alumni. International and local NGOs, foreign citizens and non-alumni groups are not eligible for grants.

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • Applicant/s must be alumni at the time of application;
  • Applicant/s must currently be residing in the republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Alumni and recipients of all U.S. Government-funded exchange and training programs, including ECA, USAID, USDA trainings, as well as others with a U.S. Government alumni connection are eligible to apply;
  • Funded projects can start from September 30, 2014 and end before March 31, 2015 (Project activities can only start after signing grant agreement with AAA).

Grant

The grant funding may not exceed $3,000 for alumni groups and $1,000 for individuals.

The Center for Institutional Analysis and Development – Eleutheria (CADI), The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), The Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies (CES), The Institute for Economic Studies Europe (IES- Europe) and The Society for Individual Freedom (SoLib) are receiving applications for The September School of Economics, Politics and Philosophy, scheduled for September 23 – 28, 2014 at a hotel in Brasov (exact location to be updated soon).

This year’s event focuses on the future of freedom and prosperity in Europe.

Eligibility

Applicants would be students and graduates in human and social sciences and in other fields who are interested in the value of liberty.
