Free Online Courses for Cultural Managers from Leading European Experts are launched

Professionals from the cultural and creative industries can take a series of online courses given by European experts on strategic planning, advocacy and applying to Creative Europe, developed by the EU-EaP Culture and Creativity Programme.

 

Each course consists of several short videos and is complemented with practical tips and examples. You can receive a certificate on completion of each course. The courses are available in 8 languages including Azerbaijani, Russian, and English) and include the best European practices in the sphere of cultural and creative industries.

 

To take a course and receive a certificate, you have to select your favourite topic on the Programme’s website https://www.culturepartnership.eu/en/publishing/online-learning, go through the course materials and answer the test questions correctly. 4 courses are currently available: Strategic Planning, Advocacy, Creative Europe and Proposal Writing.

 

The Strategic Planning course will  teach you how to formulate an organisation’s vision, conduct internal and external analyses, determine competitive advantages and implement a successful marketing plan (from the author of the popular book for creative businesses David Parrish).

 

The Advocacy course videos will teach you how to develop an advocacy strategy. You will also get practical advice on key tools and effective campaigning methods from the communication expert.

 

The distance learning course for Creative Europe consists of 5 videos with step-by-step instructions on how to apply to Creative Europe, the biggest European grant programme in the cultural sphere (from the heads of Creative Europe Lithuania Desk Egle Deltuvaite and the Estonia Desk Yvelin Karu-Veskioja). During the course, you will learn about the selection criteria, registration process, search for partners and success factors when applying for Creative Europe.

 

The Proposal Writing course will help cultural managers to prepare successful project proposals, and so obtain the funds for implementing these projects. After completing the course, you will be able to determine the project’s goals, objectives and expected outcomes, find partners and develop proper applications. The course is led by Magdalena Krasowska-Igras, a coach on writing project proposals and setting a budget who has more than 12 years of experience.

 

Over the year, new topics will be added to the courses, including finance, fundraising, communication, project management for cultural organisations and many more.

International Youth to Youth Summit 2017 in Dubai, UAE

Youth to Youth Initiative and GADHA Initiatives Group for Youth present the 3rd International Youth to Youth Summit that will take place in Dubai, UAE, from April 23rd to 27th, 2017. The Summit will explore the topic of Youth Creating Social Innovations and Building Sustainable Future by Means of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The Summit will gather 150 international and 50 local outstanding young leaders, more than 30 profound speakers and high-ranking guests that will be engaged in fruitful discussions, will look for the solutions and cooperate together to push forward joint action plans.

Eligibility

To participate in the 3rd International Youth to Youth Summit in Dubai, you have to:

  • be a citizen of any country across the world
  • be no younger than 18 and no older than 35 years old
  • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and potential to become a key leader in your community
  • have passion to create positive social change and willingness to use Y2Y experience in your leadership position
  • have some experience active either in politics (local, national, or international), civil society organizations, media, the business sector, local communities, faith based movements, and other fields
  • have a good working knowledge of written and spoken English

Costs

The participation fee is 300 EUR that covers accommodation, food, materials for sessions. The participation cost has been set with a view that it is considerably affordable for participants coming from all backgrounds. However, international participants are expected to cover their return traveling expenses and visa costs.

It’s a fellow program for foreign English speakers to share their English knowledge and cultural background with students in underprivileged areas in São Paulo.

Over the past 4 years, 4YOU2 has brought over 200 teachersand taught about 6000 students. Being a social business and a certified B Corporation, 4YOU2 charges a very small fee (Around $20 per month) from the students and currently offers the lowest price in the Brazilian market when compared to other local language schools.

At 4YOU2, the cultural exchange between the students and the teachers is as important as the development of the language, that’s why all of our teachers are foreigners. We beilieve that with the combination of high quality English classes and a rich cultural enrviroment, we’ll help to create a brighter future for our students and for Brazil.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

Eco-generation of Samsung Engineering would like to offer opportunities to the young students to participate in the 2017 Global Eco-Leaders Camp which will be held in Seoul, South Korea by sponsoring the respective winners around the world to explore the environmental awareness activities.

Winners will be given the opportunities to participate in the 2017 Global Eco-Leaders Camp which program includes specialist lecture, laboratory demonstrations and experiments, hands-on project, presentation competition and a variety of other activities in order to advance their awareness on the role and commitment to energy efficiency, energy conservation, and mitigating energy-related impacts on the environment. The Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) is a student-run organization of the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. HPAIR organizes Harvard University’s largest annual student conferences in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 1991, we have continuously gathered a growing pool of international students from top universities, renowned academics, business professionals, and political leaders to engage in our rigorous educational events.

Our programs intend to achieve three goals:

  • Provide a dynamic forum of exchange on international issues vital to Asia
  • Foster long-term relationships among young leaders from around the globe
  • Connect talented delegates with some of today’s leaders in academia, business and government.

Today, HPAIR has significantly expanded to offer two annual conferences. Through plenary sessions, panels, keynotes, workshops, and case studies, the conferences provide valuable opportunities for discussion about challenges and trends in the international landscape. Continuing its tradition of academic excellence, the HPAIR Harvard Conference seeks to create a rigorous forum for dialogue and exchange.

The Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) will take place  on February 17-20 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Eligibility

  • Current undergraduate and graduate students. Recent college graduates (within the past 5 years) may also apply to HPAIR conferences!

Costs

You will have to pay your registration fee when filling out the online registration form for the conference. Because HPAIR uses PayPal, delegates will need to use a debit or credit card. Your online registration is NOT complete until you have successfully submitted both your online registration form and your registration payment. Alternative methods of payment are also available on a case by case basis.

Registration fees for  the 2017 Harvard Conference:

  • Early Registration = $375
  • Regular Registration = $400
  • Late Registration = $450

During the HPAIR conference, there will be coffee breaks throughout the conference where refreshments will be provided. HPAIR will also provide breakfast and catered lunches throughout the conference.

HPAIR is not responsible for transportation to and from the conference. Delegates have the choice of taking the T (the subway) or a bus/taxi to their hotel and the venue. More detailed information will be sent to accepted delegates in the Delegate Guide.

There is financial aid available for the 2017 Harvard Conference.

To clarify, the financial aid application is separate from the general application. You need to apply to both to receive financial aid! You will only be considered for financial aid if you submit both your application and your financial aid application by the regular round deadline – that is, before December 10th, 2016 at 11:59 PM EST.

Please be prepared to answer an essay question of up to 650 words, write a short answer of up to 250 words, participate in a Skype interview, and provide financial statements about parental and personal yearly incomes.

Having attended previous conferences does not by itself influence your chances of acceptance. However, if you were accepted for a previous conference, this means we were sufficiently impressed by your essays, resume and credentials in a previous application cycle. As such, you will have a fair chance of being accepted again this year provided your application demonstrates the same strength relative to the rest of our applicant pool. Early round applicants will be notified in late November, regular round applicants will be notified in early January, and late round applicants will be notified in late January.

The Public Policy & International Affairs Program (PPIA) is now accepting applications for the 2017 PPIA Fellowship!

The PPIA program prepares undergraduates

to be competitive  candidates for top degree programs in the fields of public policy, public administration or international affairs through participation in a Junior Summer Institute (JSI).

JSI is an intensive, 7-week, academic program during the summer at one of these host campuses:

  • The Ford School – University of Michigan
  • The Goldman School – UC Berkeley
  • Heinz College – Carnegie Mellon University
  • Humphrey School of Public Affairs – University of Minnesota
  • Woodrow Wilson School – Princeton University

Eligible candidates are current undergrads who will be completing their B.A. between December 2017 and August 2018. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2016.
