Description

The Magmart International Videoart Festival, founded in 2005 by the Italian artist and designer Enrico Tomaselli, is held every year in Naples, Italy. The festival is realized in partnership with the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum (CAM).

The call for the IX edition of Magmart Festival is open and invites international videoartists to submit short videos, fully realized with digital technology, of up to 10 minutes, for inclusion in the Festival official program.

Eligibility

The Festival is open to all international videoartists.

Award

The jury will select 30 artworks that will become part of Casoria Contemporary Art Museum permanent collection.

Application

Technical Features of Artworks

  • The videos must be fully realized with digital tech must be mono-channel;
  • The videos must be sent in format .mpeg, .mpg, .mp4, .avi or .mov (PAL);
  • The max lenght of videos don’t must surpass 10 minutes;
  • The videos must be accompanied by a still-frame from video itself, in format .jpg, and with dimension not less than 400 px / 300 px;
  • The videos must have a quality (dimension, resolution) right for a public screening, without any further shipping of an high-res copy Suggested size is 1280px / 720px (16:9); minimum size required is 720px / 576px.

Description

Fabrica is a communication research centre. It is based in Treviso, Italy, and is an integral part of the Benetton Group. Established in 1994, Fabrica offers young creative people from around the world a one-year study grant and provides opportunities for professional and creative growth, as well as a wealth of resources and relationships, as they develop social and cultural communication projects in the fields of design, visual communication, photography, interaction, video, music, and journalism. Fabrica engages in areas enabling a diverse range of disciplines including product design, graphic design, photography, interaction design, code, video, music, journalism and media. 2015 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest

The Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights, the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, Minneapolis City Council, and Mayor Betsy Hodges are pleased to present the 2015 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest.

This contest is open to all students who attend schools in Minneapolis who are in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades.

Completed essays should be returned no later than Monday January 19th, 2015.

The topic for this year’s contest is:

“Jokes or comments are commonly made, both accidentally and intentionally, at the expense of certain groups of people. Some individuals and organized groups actively work to stop hurtful speech. What could you do to stop these stereotypical/hurtful comments?

Provide at least 2 specific examples of how language results in the violation of or protection of human rights. Be sure to identify the message, who it is from, who it affects and how it affects them. Reference the United States’ Constitution, the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights or the United States Bill of Rights in your answer.”

Essays may be from one to three pages in length and address the selected topic.

The contest winners will receive a gift card to be awarded at a ceremony before the Minneapolis City Council in the spring of 2015.

Interviews may be requested by the media. The first place winners will have an opportunity to read a portion of their essay at the awards ceremony.

The Terra Summer Residency Fellowships for Artists

Description

Each summer the Terra Foundation offers ten residential fellowships for emerging artists and doctoral scholars in the history of American art and visual culture at its properties in Giverny, France. The Terra Summer Residency (TSR) offers opportunities to pursue individual work within a framework of interdisciplinary exchange and cross-cultural dialogue. During this 9-week period, fellows interact regularly with invited senior advisors and guest lecturers, who direct weekly seminars and hold individual meetings. Private visits to exhibitions and attendance of special conferences are also proposed. In addition to the fellowship stipend, fellows are provided with on-site lodging, working facilities and lunches for the duration of the residency. At the end of the program, fellows share the work that was accomplished during the residency and the artists present their work in the open studios. The program encourages fellows to make lifelong connections and become part of the international alumni community of Terra fellows.

Eligibility

Candidates worldwide can apply. Applicants must be either:

  • A visual artist with a master’s degree or its equivalent at the time of application. Preference is given to applicants who have completed their degree within the past five years.
  • A doctoral candidate researching American art and visual culture prior to 1980 within the United States or in the context of international artistic exchange. Candidates should be at an advanced stage of their doctoral research and writing.

Fellowship

Terra Summer Residency fellows receive:

  • A $5,000 stipend (artists receive an additional $300 for the purchase of materials);
  • A travel contribution (up to $250 for individuals traveling from Europe; up to $1,000 for individuals traveling from outside Europe); and
  • Lodging in the Terra Foundation residences and daily lunches

The Show off Your Forest Photography Contest

FOREST EUROPE is pleased to invite you to the second edition of the Show Off Your Forest Photography Contest. In 2014 they are setting a new photographic challenge: show how forests protect us and how we can protect them! Tell them with the aid of one or several photos the benefits forests provide us with and how they protect us. Show what threats they face and what would happen if they weren’t protected. Show how they are being protected and how you can protect them. The 2014 edition looks at two categories:

  • Mobile: Photo taken with a mobile phone or tablet camera;
  • CameraPhoto taken with a digital camera.

Eligibility

This competition is open to every individual from around the world. The only condition is that you take a picture from a forest that is located in Europe.

Awards

First places in the two categories: The winners of the Show Off Your Forest photography competition will be given a trip for two to a protected forest area in Spain. The prize includes the airfare and hotel accommodation, in addition to a guide who will accompany the winners on their visit to the nature park.

Second places in the two categories: The winning participants of the second prize in the Show Off Your Forest competition will be given a Nikon D3100 photographic camera and a professional waterproof case.

Accesit Mobile and Digital camera category: The winners of this prize will get  two mountain garments, comprising a pair of Forcau Red trousers and a Mountain of Winter Softshell polar jacket.

Draw – All users registered on the competition website will go into the draw for 5 batches of Secrets of Galicia artisan products, which include: honey, chestnuts, jam, cake, chocolate filled sweets and the book “The Sacred Forest of Lugo”.

The Green-Go Short Film Contest 2014

Description

Green-Go was launched in 2010 for one simple reason: to let the arty people all around the globe express their views and opinions on current pressing issues of nature and society through their short films.  Although in its only fourth year, the Green-Go Short Film Contest and Festival has become one of the most known “green” short film contests organised and run by youngsters.

The organisers of Green-Go Short Film Contest are waiting for creative, eye-opener short films in the following three categories:

  • Nature works for us! Show us how nature works for us all or what would happen without the services of nature!
  • Feeding the world sustainably – Celebrating the International Year of Family Farming. Show the importance of family farms, small-scale agriculture, traditional knowledge, and the need for more sustainable agriculture and more responsible consumers’ choice!.
  • Fighting climate change and disasters with natural solutions. Show how climate change threatens us, how we can fight climate change with simple, natural solutions and what existing solutions there are in the world already.

Eligibility

This call is open to anyone who create a short film that fulfill the following requirements:

  • A campaign film with maximum of 60 seconds OR
  • A short film between 60 seconds and 4 minutes

The films can be made in any genre (cartoon, animation, puppet film, documentary, interviews, etc) The shocking, saucy or dumfounding, in brief the eye-opener and impressive films will get a big plus during the evaluation.

Prizes

The prizes are:

  • Award-winner in each of the three categories:  325 Euro
  • Public-award for one film based on the online public votes: 170 Euro

International Cultural Fellowships in St. Petersburg, Russia

The Likhachev Foundation (St. Petersburg, Russia) together with Committee on External Relations of Saint Petersburg and B. Yeltsin Presidential Center (Moscow, Russia) announces a competition for ten 2-week cultural fellowships in Russia (St. Petersburg) from May 11 till May 24, 2015.

The fellowships are open to professional in the field or arts and culture who work on projects related to Russian culture. The creative project could be a museum exhibition project, a theater production, a film, a photo exhibition, preparation of fiction or research books, etc. related to Russian culture or history. The creative project should be conceived in a foreign country and should be aimed at a broad audience. Two-week residency in Russia should serve as an important stage in the realization of the applicant’s cultural project.

The Likhachev Foundation will prepare individual programs for the fellows according to their projects’ specifics, to help them achieve maximum results during their fellowships. These programs will include meetings with Russian colleagues, opportunities to work at St. Petersburg museums, libraries, archives, and other organizations. Thank you for supporting!

Eligibility

The Likhachev Foundation accepts applications from professionals in the field of culture and history or arts from foreign countries who are currently working on creative projects related to Russian culture or history. Command of the Russian language is very helpful but not required.
