Description

Kosovo – Serbia Round Table Dialogue This is a diplomatic simulation for academics from all around the world, about the conflict between Kosovo and Serbia. From this Conference we’d like to achieve more peaceful diplomacy for next generations of Kosovo and Serbia’s youth. It will be held in two rounds, the first round will take place in Pristina (Kosovo) on 20-22th February 2015 in Hotel Sirius. Next round will take place in Serbia in April. It mainly aims to provide people between the ages of 16 – 30 years with more insight and knowledge on how this conflict can be solved. All participants will be assigned as representatives of a country which will be assigned by Organization committee after applicants will complete all registration procedures.

There will be 70 representative countries , mainly all European Countries and also the involvement of USA and CANADA as observer states.

With 2 days intensive debates , with over 70 participants from all around the world , accompanied by guests speakers from Kosovo and Serbian Government , First round of the dialogue will be held in Sirius Conference Center , Pristina , Kosovo.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  • be between the ages of 16 and 30 years old ;
  • be citizen of European Countries + USA, Canada;
  • Students, Researchers, Diplomats, Politicians;
  • possess upper-intermediate English proficiency.

Description

If you are an adult or transfer student looking to complete your bachelor’s degree, join the Public Engagement Competition and compete for a scholarship to complete your studies at The New School for Public Engagement in New York City beginning fall 2015. 1 full- and 1 partial-scholarship for the Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students are available in the competition.

The New School for Public Engagement is the university’s founding division, and is now one of seven divisions that compose The New School. The mission of The New School for Public Engagement is to create and nurture a learning community marked by interdisciplinary engagement with real-world issues and the integration of professional, civic, and liberal learning. The common thread that runs across the division’s diverse academic programs is a commitment to learning that makes a difference in the world. Eligibility

Open to adult and transfer students that want to complete their bachelor’s degree at The New School for Public Engagement. To be eligible to win the scholarship prize, you need a minimum level of high school/upper secondary school education. Winners are expected to start their bachelor’s program in the fall of 2015.

In order to be selected as a finalist in the competition, the participant needs to submit a complete application to the New School for Public Engagement. To claim the scholarship prize, the winner must fulfill all enrollment requirements set by The New School for Public Engagement and be accepted by the Admissions Office.

Scholarship

No prize alternatives or cash equivalents are offered. Prizes are non-transferable. The winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to the acceptance of the prize.

The value of the scholarship varies depending on the chosen program. The prize has a maximum value of $160,000.

Full-scholarship:

  • Scholarship covers 100% of tuition fee and mandatory fees up to the amount of credits that the student needs to maintain their degree. Student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and 67% completion rate in order to maintain scholarship eligibility.
  • The scholarship can only be used for degree-related classes (non-­credit classes will not be covered).
  • Student must attend full time.
  • If the winning student is receiving tuition scholarship(s) from another source, The New School scholarship may be reduced by that amount.
  • The scholarship can be revoked if the student withdraws or takes a leave from the program.
  • **The scholarship is for tuition and fee charges only. It may not be used for housing, health insurance, living expenses or food plans.

Summer Fellowship at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC)

Higher Education:  The Glenn Research Center (GRC) manages and implements a number of NASA and Center-unique Higher Education (HE) programs for college STEM students. The programs for undergraduate and graduate students embody opportunities in NASA Internships, Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) some of which are offered on-site at GRC, while others are attainable on university and college campuses.  On-site GRC tenure for students is typically complemented with developmental programs to enrich/enhance participants’ experience. In particular, the HE programs seek to:

  1. Train students in the conduct of research, while instilling in them STEM competencies needed for next the generation of scientists and engineers, to help replenish and sustain NASA and theUS workforce;
  2. Promote the infusion of NASA mission content in classroom teaching, to help keep students motivated in STEM courses, leading to related careers to promote advancement of NASA mission.

 

Lewis’ Educational and Research Collaborative Internship Project (LERCIP) is a Center-unique ten week paid summer college internship experience at the NASA Glenn Research facility.  Internships are in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, as well as the non-STEM professional business career majors that provide support to NASA’s mission.  LERCIP provides opportunities to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students.  LERCIP interns are involved in mission-related projects under the guidance of a GRC mentor and subject matter expert who engages them in exciting work with exposure to state-of-the-art technology.  The dates of the two sessions are below.

 

  • Session #1:  June 1, 2015 – August 7, 2015
  • Session #2:  June 15, 2015 – August 21, 2015

 

We are asking that you consider being our point of contact (POC) to spread the word to students about these opportunities.  As a POC you will do the following:

  • Post the fliers on your website and make copies to give to eligible students

Am I eligible to apply for a White House Internship?

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) no more than two years before the first day of the internship
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship

Selection Criteria

Selection as a White House Fellow is based on a combination of the following criteria:

  • A record of remarkable professional achievement early in one’s career.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and the potential for further growth.
  • A demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • The skills to succeed at the highest levels of the Federal government, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

All these qualities combined with the strength of one’s character, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with others are taken into consideration when selecting a class of White House Fellows.

Recommendation Letters

Applicants will be asked to submit the names and email addresses of three recommenders (and one alternate recommender) within the application portal. We encourage you to complete this section of the application as early as possible to ensure that recommenders have ample time to submit letters of recommendation.

We also strongly encourage you to provide diverse letters of recommendation (i.e. academia, professional, community service). It is best to have recommendations from individuals who know you well and can fully answer the questions that are asked in the application. For example, a recommendation letter from a prominent person is not helpful if that individual cannot speak about your background and character.

At least one recommendation should be from an individual that can speak to your professional competence and accomplishments in your field. At least one recommendation should come from someone with knowledge of your community and civic activities. In addition, one recommendation should be from your current supervisor, if applicable. A recommendation from a prior supervisor is acceptable, but a current supervisor is preferred.

Please take caution when submitting your recommenders’ information to avoid mistakes, as this section of the application will be locked once you submit the information and the only way to make changes is through Technical Services atWHFApplication@opm.gov.

The Reach Cambridge Scholarship Essay Competition

Reach Cambridge offer academic residential study programs in Cambridge. This year they are offering a Scholarship Essay Competition for Summer 2015, which is designed  for academically excellent students who would otherwise not be able to attend their summer programs. The students need to write an essay answering the following question: “In an age of quick and easy global communication, what is the value of face-to-face interaction and learning with other school students from all over the world?”.

Through this Scholarship Essay Competition Reach Cambridge offers international high school students the opportunity to gain an invaluable academic experience in one of the top educational facilities in the world. Participants stay in the world-renowned Cambridge University, located just 50 miles north of London. As well as an unrivaled academic environment, students experience British culture in the stimulating and distinguished surroundings of the University City of Cambridge in the south-east of England. One week scholarship (awarded to a maximum of 3 students): 100% of the program fee for the 1 week Global Leaders course in 2015 at the Cambridge University.

White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Internship Program

The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Washington, D.C., offers full-time internships during the spring, summer, and fall. Part-time applicants who can commit to at least 20 hours a week will be considered, although the Initiative prioritizes full-time applicants (32-40 hours a week).

The Initiative is responsible for the implementation of the President’s Executive Order 13515, dated October 14, 2009.  Its purpose is to develop, monitor, and coordinate executive branch efforts to improve the quality of life of AAPIs through increased participation in federal programs.  The Initiative is housed at the Department of Education but its scope is government-wide.

Interns at the Initiative are responsible for assisting the staff on a wide range of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues and priorities, including capacity-building, civil rights, data disaggregation, economic development, education, health, immigration, language access, and workforce diversity.  In addition, interns will help write policy memos and proposals, draft blogs, assist with communications and social media, coordinate and staff events, and conduct outreach to national and local AAPI organizations and leaders.

Applicants for intern positions must be undergraduates or graduate students who are enrolled at least half-time.  Ideally, the candidate will already be familiar with AAPI issues and have outstanding research, writing, communications, and computer skills.

Recent Graduates Program

The Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years after degree completion to apply). Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. The program lasts for 1 year (unless the training requirements of the position warrant a longer and more structured training program).

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is a flagship leadership development program at the entry-level for advanced degree candidates.
