Royal Caribbean Is Hiring Someone to Travel the World and Take Photos for Instagram

Are you on the hunt for an internship? Are you already employed, but thinking your life might be better if you quit your job and instead got paid to Instagram for three weeks? Well then, hold on to your iPhones.

Royal Caribbean UK & Ireland will be hiring one savvy photographer this summer for its new “intern-ship” program, according to Conde Nast Traveler. This lucky human will get to spend three weeks between June and July 2017 setting sail with Royal Caribbean and documenting their adventures all over Instagram. The intern will board Ovation of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas and travel to Beijing, New York, and Barcelona, respectively, with all of their daily expenses covered.

The intern will also receive 3,000 British pounds ($3,723) in prize money and get “complimentary access to climbing walls, Flowrider, restaurants, swimming pools, zip wires, water-slides and onboard fitness facilities.”

All you have to do to apply is post a “most extraordinary” travel photo or video to Instagram and tag @RoyalCaribbeanUK and #ExtraordinaryExplorer. Applicants must be at least 21, own an iPhone, and have “extensive knowledge of all 23 filters.” Apply here before applications close on Jan. 31.

JCamp – Temple University School of Media and Communication – July 22 – 27, 2017

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is now accepting applications for JCamp, an all-expenses-paid journalism training program for talented high school students of diverse backgrounds.

JCamp is free and open to current freshmen, sophomores and juniors in high school. Students of all races and ethnicities are encouraged to apply before the March 12, 2017 deadline. I encourage you to pass this information along to any students you think may be interested in the program.

JCamp will celebrate its 17th year in 2017 at the Temple University School of Media and Communication in Philadelphia, PA, July 22 – 27. The six-day camp brings students together for intensive training in writing, photography, broadcast, online media and reporting led by professional journalists.

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is a non-profit educational and professional organization with more than 1,600 members across the United States and Asia. Part of AAJA’s mission is to provide encouragement, information, advice and scholarship assistance to AAPI students who aspire to professional journalism careers.

The Flowminder Foundation

The Flowminder Foundation is a non-profit organisation registered in Stockholm (Sweden) with staff in Geneva (Switzerland) and Southampton (UK). Our mission is to improve public health and welfare in low- and middle-income countries. We collect, aggregate, integrate and analyse anonymous mobile operator data, satellite and household survey data. We often work with extremely large datasets, composed of billions of data points. Our analyses enable us to map the distributions and characteristics of vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries. The data we provide are global public goods. We work with governments, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs. We help save lives by providing analyses and decision support to all relevant parties, based on our latest academic advances.

 

Position

The Communications Officer will act as the focal point for all communications-related activities within Flowminder and will develop and implement communications strategies in coordination with the Executive Director and line managers. The Communications Officer is a new position within the organization with room to grow and develop. The position is a 6-month paid internship, that could lead to employment depending on individual performance and funding.

Role Description

  • In coordination with the Executive Director, design the overall Flowminder communication strategy, programs and activities, and execute them
  • Coordinate communications across multiple platforms including print, web, social media and event in order to increase awareness of Flowminder’s mission and activities
  • Produce and edit content to develop and maintain the website, internet presence, newsletter, marketing materials and annual reports Liaise with Executive Director and line managers on how to frame Flowminder expertise and track record in interesting and engaging ways
  • Liaise with external service suppliers, such as web design and communications agencies
  • Develop expertise and skills through self-training, networking and benchmarking. Identify best practices in nonprofit communication management and implement them
  • Monitor and evaluate impact of communication activities using relevant tools

Education

  • Master’s degree in Communications or Marketing, alternatively in a relevant field in which Flowminder works (international development, international relations, global health or humanitarian response) with documented relevant experience in Communications

Experience

  • Previous significant experience in communications-related work for a development, humanitarian or research organisation, preferably in an international environment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing communications across various platforms, including web and social media
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, producing and editing electronic and printed materials and content

Competences

  • Native speaker in English is a requirement

Free Online Courses for Cultural Managers from Leading European Experts are launched

Professionals from the cultural and creative industries can take a series of online courses given by European experts on strategic planning, advocacy and applying to Creative Europe, developed by the EU-EaP Culture and Creativity Programme.

 

Each course consists of several short videos and is complemented with practical tips and examples. You can receive a certificate on completion of each course. The courses are available in 8 languages including Azerbaijani, Russian, and English) and include the best European practices in the sphere of cultural and creative industries.

 

To take a course and receive a certificate, you have to select your favourite topic on the Programme’s website https://www.culturepartnership.eu/en/publishing/online-learning, go through the course materials and answer the test questions correctly. 4 courses are currently available: Strategic Planning, Advocacy, Creative Europe and Proposal Writing.

 

The Strategic Planning course will  teach you how to formulate an organisation’s vision, conduct internal and external analyses, determine competitive advantages and implement a successful marketing plan (from the author of the popular book for creative businesses David Parrish).

 

The Advocacy course videos will teach you how to develop an advocacy strategy. You will also get practical advice on key tools and effective campaigning methods from the communication expert.

 

The distance learning course for Creative Europe consists of 5 videos with step-by-step instructions on how to apply to Creative Europe, the biggest European grant programme in the cultural sphere (from the heads of Creative Europe Lithuania Desk Egle Deltuvaite and the Estonia Desk Yvelin Karu-Veskioja). During the course, you will learn about the selection criteria, registration process, search for partners and success factors when applying for Creative Europe.

 

The Proposal Writing course will help cultural managers to prepare successful project proposals, and so obtain the funds for implementing these projects. After completing the course, you will be able to determine the project’s goals, objectives and expected outcomes, find partners and develop proper applications. The course is led by Magdalena Krasowska-Igras, a coach on writing project proposals and setting a budget who has more than 12 years of experience.

 

Over the year, new topics will be added to the courses, including finance, fundraising, communication, project management for cultural organisations and many more.

International Youth to Youth Summit 2017 in Dubai, UAE

Youth to Youth Initiative and GADHA Initiatives Group for Youth present the 3rd International Youth to Youth Summit that will take place in Dubai, UAE, from April 23rd to 27th, 2017. The Summit will explore the topic of Youth Creating Social Innovations and Building Sustainable Future by Means of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Eligibility

To participate in the 3rd International Youth to Youth Summit in Dubai, you have to:

International Development Youth Forum 2017 in Tokyo, Japan

Applications are now invited from youth worldwide to participate in the International Development Youth Forum (IDYF) 2017 taking place from March 12th to 19th, 2017 at the Youth education National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo, Japan. The forum focused especially on “Corporation and Development.” as a theme by using three specific case studies (1.Garment Industry in Bangladesh, 2.Soybean Industry in Brazil, and 3.Cut Flowers in Kenya), you can discuss the nature of development, including its goals and the roles of multinational corporations, in order to create a new vision for ‘development’ that addresses the limitations of our current economic system with 50 selected participants from diverse nationalities.

Funded

IDYF 2017 has two separate application types, one for self-funded candidates, and another for scholarship candidates.   Note that you cannot apply for both.

If you are selected as a self-funded participant, you will be required to pay 25,000 JPY, (USD 238 as of November 1st)It includes an accommodation, meals, and transportation fees during the forum (March 12th   to 19th   2017), but does not include transportation fees from the airport to the venue, accommodation fee before and after the program, or insurance and Optional tour on 19th, March.

If you are selected as a participant with scholarship, flight tickets and participation fee is covered, but you need to pay transportation fee from the airport to the venue, accommodation fee before and after the program, or insurance and Optional tour fee. Scholarships will be given to only one to three applicants with financial difficulties.

7th South Caucasus Regional English Language Teaching Conference

U.S. Embassy Georgia is pleased to announce the 7th South Caucasus Regional English Language Teaching Conference to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on January 27-28, 2017.

The conference is organized in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Regional English Language Office and U.S. Embassies Baku, Yerevan, Minsk and Chisinau.

Participants will present and share their teaching experiences on a range of the topics. Department of State English Language Fellows will conduct workshops on advanced EFL/ESL methods for secondary and tertiary level. We anticipate engaging, productive discussions and a fruitful exchange of ideas.

The program will address the following themes:

  • Using Technology in the EFL Classroom
  • Content Based Instruction
  • Integrating Across Skills in EFL
  • Teaching English for Specific Purposes
  • Considerations for EL Assessment
  • Developing Intercultural Communication
  • Integrating across Methodology in ELT
  • Critical Thinking Approach in ELT
  • Teaching Writing Techniques

Working Format: Workshops, Demonstrations, Poster Presentations 

Workshops (60 minutes). A workshop involves no lecturing; it emphasizes participation in a carefully structured activity or activities. The leader/leaders work with the group, helping them to solve a problem or develop a specific teaching or research technique. The workshop summary should include a statement of the goal(s), a synopsis of the theory behind it, and a description of the tasks to be performed during the workshop.

Demonstration (30 minutes). A demonstration is used for showing rather than describing a technique. The presenter’s statement of theory should take no longer than 10 minutes. Often the presenter models teaching techniques, usually has handouts and/or audio-visual aids. The summary should include a brief statement of the central purpose and description of the presentation.

Poster Presentation. In a poster session, the presenter makes her/his own visual poster of an activity or concept, and then explains it to individuals or small groups during the time the exhibit is on display.

Eligibility

The conference will be a networking and sharing platform for U.S. Department of State English Access Microscholarship Program teachers, E-Teacher Program alumni, American English webinar participants and other active ELT professionals from the six countries.  (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine)

Costs

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. government. Three-night accommodation, meals, and conference materials will be provided for selected participants. Arrangements for the participants from each country will be made by respective U.S. Embassies.

Application

Selection will be based on application reviews, available regional slots for each country, exchange programs alumni distribution, focus of presentations, and commitment by participants to share their learning with other educators.

A preliminary program and additional conference information will be provided in invitation letters to be sent by January 10, 2017.

It’s a fellow program for foreign English speakers to share their English knowledge and cultural background with students in underprivileged areas in São Paulo.

Over the past 4 years, 4YOU2 has brought over 200 teachersand taught about 6000 students. Being a social business and a certified B Corporation, 4YOU2 charges a very small fee (Around $20 per month) from the students and currently offers the lowest price in the Brazilian market when compared to other local language schools.

At 4YOU2, the cultural exchange between the students and the teachers is as important as the development of the language, that’s why all of our teachers are foreigners.
