Description

The Hungarian Government announced the policy of “Global Opening”, as part of which the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 for foreign students.
The aim of the programme is to promote cultural understanding, economic and political relations between Hungary and other countries.

Full time studies:
BA/BSc (undergraduate – 3 years)
MA/MSc (graduate – 2 years)
PhD studies (doctoral – 3 years)

Eligibility

Before proceeding with your application, please check in the documents available at the official website whether your country is eligible and the requirements set for the foreign language programs.

Financial provisions relevant for every full-time scholarship holder for academic year 2015/2016:
  • no tuition fee;
  • monthly stipend: HUF 40 460 (EUR 130) per month in the case of BA/BSc, MA/MSc programs, and HUF 100 000 (EUR 325) per month for PhD students;
  • dormitory places or additional contribution to accommodation costs: HUF 30 000 (EUR 100);
  • medical insurance.
The applications must contain the following documents in English or Hungarian language:
  1. The current Application form of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme (completely filled, printed and signed by the applicant);
  2. Curriculum Vitae in Europass format;
  3. Letter of interest;
  4. Certificate of the applicant’s level of English language necessary for the selected program. Usually the requested level of language knowledge is B2-intermediate according to the Common European Framework Reference: the certificate is preferably a state or international language exam (a) TOEFL iBT test score of 90, or PBT score 550, b) Cambridge First Certificate “B”, c) IELTS score of 5.0).
  5. School certificates: a. Copy of the secondary school graduation certificate (original and notarized English translation); b. Official transcripts, degrees, diplomas of any higher education already completed (original and notarized translation); c. Copy of the BA/BSc certificate (for applicants for MA or MSc programmes except in the case of one-cycle MA programs) – original and notarized English translation
  6. Copy of the passport (relevant page(s) where passport number, name and photo, date of expiry are visible)
  7. Medical certificate of satisfactory health condition issued not earlier than 1 months. (The applicant must obtain a written certification from a physician for not havong the folowwing illnesses: AIDS, Hepatitis A, B, C ot any other epdiamic conditions.)
Applicants for music/arts scholarships must attach the following documents in addition to the above:
  • For painters, graphic artists and sculptors: photographs of three (3) works of art / sketches (indicating the date of the creation)
  • For performance artists, musicians (conductors, composers): high quality recordings of three (3) different styles of music, (conductors may submit a DVD), composers must submit three (3) original scores as well.
PhD program applicants must attach the following documents in addition to the above:
  1. Detailed research plan (min. 2 pages)
  2. Copy of the MA/MSc certificate (original and notarized English translation)
  3. Two letters of recommendation from two recognised academic persons.

Project Introduction 

Institute for Peace & Dialogue, IPD is very glad successfully completed the II International Summer Academy and we start promotion of next International Summer Academies in Peacebuilding, Mediation, Conflict Resolution & Intercultural Dialogue, which is going to be held in Baar one of the beautiful place of Switzerland. Its image as one of the most favourable places for traveling has made it more interesting to offer an exited and comprehensive program for our participants. Our experts, who are professionals in their fields, will contribute to this event with many years of experience in peace, mediation and conflict studies.

International Summer Academies will surround mainly the topics mediation, dispute resolution, conflict transformation, intercultural dialogue, human rights, leadership, social approach, peacebuilding, negotiation, litigation, arbitration etc. related subjects.

 

Main Goal

The main goal of the summer academies is to support institutional academic peacebuilding, mediation and conflict resolution education and strengthen the skills of the representatives of state organs, business sector, INGOs, education institutes and independent mediators.

 

Methodology

Within the international summer academies we plan to include different workshops, lectures, presentations, interactive group works, brainstorming on conflict places, mediation operations and peace negotiation activities as well as case studies on ongoing-fragile conflicts in the world (depends experts availability).

Participants will acquire knowledge and skills from lecturers/experts who are working on peace building, mediation, negotiation, conflict transformation, intercultural dialogue and non-violence and other correspond fields at the state organs, companies, universities, INGOs and research centers.  There will be 5 selected experts and different topics in each of the summer academy period.

In the training, both visual/dynamic methods will be used, such as schedules, tests, surveys, direct interviews, distribution of questionnaires and other methods of observation. Every expert will take 1 or 2 days for his/her lecture and workshops. We will send educational materials and daily programs of the summer academy to the selected participants.

Besides the academic-educational side a cultural programs in the arriving (Welcome Party) and departure days (Farewell Party) is planned to bring friendly atmosphere and environment between the participants.

Potential Participants

There are no age or country limits for the participation. A broad range of interested participants can apply for the Peacebuilding, Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Intercultural Dialogue such as:

Representatives of Government Organs, Diplomatic Organs, Courts and Political Parties: To get knowledge on how to deal, manage and solve conflicts between states, between civil society leaders, political party leaders and between government-civil society institutions.

– Representatives of Business Institutes and Private Sector: To get knowledge on how to deal, manage and solve conflicts with potential clients, with business partners, between employers and between employer-leadership.

Representatives of IOs, INGOs and Local NGOs: To get knowledge on how to deal, manage and solve conflicts in conflict region and fields between conflict parties, civil society and political party leaders.

Representatives of Universities and Academic Staff: To get knowledge on how to develop teaching, study and research methodologies.

Representatives of Media Institution: To get knowledge on how to deal, manage and solve conflicts in conflict region and fields.

Mediators, peacebuilders, researchers and any interested people who want to develop their academic knowledge and capacities in Peacebuilding, Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Intercultural Dialogue, who have intention to work as mediator, who wants to join missions in conflict regions, who wants to investigate academically and who work or live in countries/society with ongoing tensions and stress.

 

 Scholarship: There have several types of scholarship offer on participation fee amount for the potential participants, if they request and pay the discounted fee before the 24 April, 2015.

NOTE: After evaluation of the participants’ application we will send the conditional invitation letter to start the participation fee payment process. After receiving the participation fee we will send unconditional invitation letter to the participants by email/post and by fax to the relevant embassy which you mentioned in your filled application form.

Freedom House Photography & Art Contest 2015

Description

Today, Freedom House will begin accepting submissions for its fourth annual photo and art contest, Images of Repression and Freedom. We invite professional and amateur photographers and artists to submit photos and other forms of art (i.e. cartoons, prints, paintings, graphic art) that reflect the themes of freedom, political participation, democracy, human rights, and repression around the world.

Semifinalists chosen by Freedom House will be displayed and auctioned as a fundraiser on May 14, 2015 in Washington, DC

2015-2016 Khazar University International Scholarship Program

Description

Khazar University was established on March 18, 1991 according to resolution  N 41 of the Cabinet of the Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic as Azerbaijan University with English as a medium of instruction to satisfy a great necessity of the country in qualified English speaking specialists. In 1992 Azerbaijan University was renamed to Khazar University according to the decision of the Academic Council of the University.

Khazar University is the first private University in the South Caucasus that started implementing international education programs with English language as a medium of instruction. Pursuant to its policy and service commitments the University is proud to announce the Khazar University International Scholarship Program for 2015-2016 (further referred to as KUISP) extended to nationals of all countries without any limitation.

Eligibility

The successful applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Good academic performance records of the previous education stage (high school, bachelor or master programs)
  • Good English language skill. Standardized English language test scores are not compulsory. However, the applicants with standardized scores (valid TOEFL/IELTS scores: expired scores are not accepted) will have competitive advantage. Holders of International Bachelor degree certificates or diplomas from a high school with English as a major medium of instruction do not need a language skill justification document.
  • Motivated to study at Khazar University.
  • Good communication skills and sociability.

Scholarship

Every year two scholarships will be awarded to citizens of each country who apply to Khazar University programs. The scholarship is provided for one year subject to prolongation based on the academic performance of the grantee. The scholarship covers the cost of the tuition fee for the whole program term, but does not cover living and travel expenses.

National Scholarship Programme for International Applicants in Estonia, 2015

Description

Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia and Archimedes Foundation annually offer scholarships to foreign nationals, pursuant to bilateral intergovernmental or inter-ministerial agreements concluded with other countries.Pursuant to the agreements Estonia offers to the students and researchers of some countries scholarships and vice versa. Starting from the year 2015 the scholarships based on the international agreements are offered in the framework of the National Scholarship Programme for international students, researchers and academic staff.

The types of scholarships are the following:

  • scholarships at the first level of higher education;
  • scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral study;
  • scholarships for summer and winter schools;
  • mobility grants for researchers and academic staff.

Eligibility

  • Scholarships at the first level of higher education and scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral study-The scholarship at the first level of higher education and the one for Master’s and Doctoral study (hereinafter also student scholarships) are intended to support the exchange study or degree study of international students at the Estonian institutions of higher education. The scholarship at the first level of higher education can be applied for only for the studies in the areas related to Estonian language and culture.
  • Scholarships for summer and winter schools-The payment of scholarships is intended to support participation in summer courses of Estonian language and culture organized by the Estonian institutions of higher education as well as in summer and winter schools related to the English-language curricula of degree study.
  • Mobility grants for researchers and academic staff-Mobility grants can be applied by the researchers and academic staff of the foreign institutions of higher education. The mobility grant can be applied for research, scientific work, teaching, cooperation with colleagues etc.
  • Students from People’s Republic of China, Israel, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Turkey, United States of America, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Flanders, Brazil, Bulgaria, Philippines, Georgia, Spain, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Korea, Cyprus, Mexico, Moldova, Germany, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, Hungary and Russia can apply for this National Scholarship Programme. Preference will be given to citizens of People’s Republic of China, Israel, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Turkey.

Scholarship

  • Scholarships at the first level of higher education and scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral study: 350 EUR per month for the undergraduate and graduate students and 422 EUR per month for doctoral students. Additional costs such as tuition fee, health insurance and other costs will not be compensated.
  • Scholarships for summer and winter schools: The scholarship is used to reimburse up to 500 EUR of the course fee and accommodation costs of 25 EUR per day for a maximum of 28 days per secondment in a calendar year.The scholarship covers the course fee to the institution of higher education and accommodation costs of students for a maximum of 28 days per one secondment in a calendar year.
  • Mobility grants for researchers and academic staff: Scholarship rate for short-term visit is 45 EUR per day and 422 EUR per month.

Application

The following additional documents will be submitted in applying for the student scholarship:

  • CV  (in the format of EUROPASS);
  • study or research plan in the free form (maximum 2 A4 pages);
  • confirmation letter of the educational institution regarding the admittance and study period of the student or submission of the entrance documents as required to the educational institution;
  • letter of recommendation (from the foreign university or Estonian institution of higher education);
  • copy of passport or ID-card

In case of exchange study the following documents will be additionally submitted:

  • certificate of foreign university on the study results;
  • certificate of foreign university on the studies of the student which should include information on the study level, academic year and nominal duration of studies of the student;
  • explanation of the Estonian institution of higher education why the institution of higher education is interested in the applicant (may be included in the letter of recommendation).

In case of degree study the following documents will be additionally submitted:

  • the copy of the last diploma including the academic certificate. If the applicant is still studying at the moment of application, the certificate on the study results and nominal duration of studies will be submitted.

The following additional documents will be submitted in applying for the scholarship of summer and winter schools:

  • application form of the relevant educational institution;
  • CV (in the format of EUROPASS);
  • certificate of foreign university on the study results;
  • the certificate of foreign university on the studies of the student which should include at least information on the study level, academic year and nominal duration of the student;
  • the confirmation of the recipient educational institution on the admittance of the student (could be also sent by e-mail) or other confirmation on the registration;
  • copy of passport or ID-card.

The following additional documents will be submitted in applying for mobility grants:

  • CV (in the format of EUROPASS);
  • work plan in the free form – max 2 pgs;
  • confirmation on the working of the applicant in the foreign university;
  • letter of recommendation (from the employer);
  • confirmation of the recipient Estonian institution on the admittance of the applicant including the reason why it is interested in the applicant or the importance of the work of the applicant for Estonia;
  • copy of passport or ID-card.

The tool, discovered over 2600 years ago, is reactivated and has been proofed and spread by our 366 Peace Agents from 92 countries since 2008.

Your training starts with the 42 Days online self-development program on our interactive platform providing you the basic theory and practice; develop the tool for inner peace and learn about the concept of PIPO – INNER PEACE + OUTER PEACE = SUSTAINABLE WORLD PEACE. Through the Online Special OPS you have the means to share true peace to friends, family and school at large. Last but not least since we need to take this light back to our communities, as your understanding of peace grows together with your commitment to the Peace Revolution Project, you will gain the necessary tools for enforcing your PIPO proposal, which will be editable until the last day and will represent the culmination of your process.

The fellowship offers a 14 days intensive training program providing participants with deeper insight in the relationship between inner peace and sustainable world peace and enhancing their ability to create peace within their family, professional and social environment.

In addition to our intense meditation practice, participants will gain knowledge of various theoretical approaches that include:

  • Conflict resolution and the role of the basic human self-disciplines
  • The role of our habits in our daily life and how to improve; the 5 Rooms of life
  • The factors that determine our perception to think, act and speak; relation between body and mind
  • Leadership: Eight pillars for a stable peaceful society
  • Thai-Buddhist Studies

  • Candidates must have completed at least 1 OFFLINE (with 5 or more participants) and 1 ONLINE (with 10 or more participants) Special Ops.
  • Candidates need to submit a PIPO Proposal (included in the application form).
  • Candidates have good proficiency in written and spoken English language.
  • Candidates should be optimistic, be open-minded, show leadership potential, and have a genuine interest in peace.
  • Candidates must finish all the above requirements (the self-development program as well as the online Special Ops) before the eligibility deadline of a fellowship.

Scholarship

The Thailand fellowship includes:

  • partial sponsoring of airfare*,
  • free accommodation,
  • free catering,
  • free local transportation,
  • free meditation retreat fee.
 Everyone is welcome to join the fellowship. But to be eligible for the partial sponsoring of airfare, candidates must be between 18-30 years old.
