Peter J. Hengel Thai Scholarship Program

Peter J. Hengel Thai Scholarship Program for the 2016-17 academic year.   The eligibility requirements are:

        Males of Thai descent, age 23 or younger

        High school seniors or current postsecondary undergraduates who are

        Planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in Minnesota.

This very generous scholarship is intended to provide for 100% of the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies. The scholarship is renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, as long as the recipient maintains full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic performance. Courses of study that take longer than four years may extend renewal eligibility if funding is available.

Mondale Scholarship Program, 2016-2017 Academic Year APPLICATION GUIDELINES The Japan America Society of Minnesota (JASM) will award the Mondale Scholarship to Minnesota undergraduate students enrolled in Minnesota colleges and universities who want to broaden their knowledge of Japan through a combination of study and travel. JASM will offer up to $4,500 in scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year. The selection committee has the discretion to award up to four $1,000 scholarships or three $1,500 scholarships.

The awards are specifically to be used for travel to or within Japan before, during, or after the student’s specified term(s) of study. The application process consists of the completion and submission of the following items: 1. Application form 2. Official college/university transcript(s) from all institutions attended 3. Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher 4. Two letters of recommendation. These letters should come from a faculty member or a member of the applicant’s community of residence who knows the applicant well and who can attest to the applicant’s desire to spend time studying and traveling in Japan. 5. An essay that addresses these questions: Why do you want to study and travel in Japan? What is your goal for this experience? How do you intend to use the scholarship dollars? The essay must be no longer than two double-spaced typewritten pages. 6. A copy of the letter of acceptance from the intended program of study in Japan. Deadline: Applications must be postmarked or emailed no later than Monday, June 20th , 2016. The selection committee will review all applications and select finalists for interviews. These interviews will be held between June 20th and Mid-July 2016. Applicants unable to participate in the interview process may be disqualified by the selection committee.

Please note: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or resident aliens currently enrolled at a Minnesota college or university. The awardees will be asked to provide quarterly written reports on their experience while in Japan and to make a personal appearance at a Japan America Society of Minnesota function during the semester after their travel is completed. Scholarship awards are generally not considered taxable income if used for tuition, books, or other similar educational expenses. Award recipients should consult with a tax advisor to understand their potential tax liability.

The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), Bucharest University of Economic Studies Students’ Union (US ASE), Alumni ASE Association, through the Students’ Senate, with the academic mentoring of the Faculty of Administration and Public Management (FAMP), having as educational partner the ‘Dan Voiculescu’ Foundation for Romania’s Development (FDVDR) gladly invites you to take part in one of this summer’s most interesting educational experiences: Bucharest Summer University 2016. This 12th edition of the international summer school, held annually in Bucharest, gathers students from all over the world to discuss different topics in the economics field.

The courses will take place between the 14th and 28th of August 2016. Description

Ural Federal University announces 75 international scholarships for new international students covering tuition fees for the full period of MS, MA and PhD studies and an optional year of Russian language preparatory course.

The Mission of Ural Federal University is increasing competitiveness, re-industrialization, the formation of human, scientific and technological potential, sustainable modernization of traditional economy branches and development of postindustrial economy branches of the Ural Federal District.

Ural Federal University (UrFU) is one of the largest higher educational institutions in Russia bringing together fundamental education and innovative approach towards the challenges of modern times.

Eligibility

International students applying for a master degree program or PhD program, taught in English or Russian offered at Ural Federal University. Current UrFU international students are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship

International students are awarded full tuition waivers for the whole period of their studies. During the studies, the students will also be able to receive the regular monthly scholarship from the university (based on their academic performance).

How to apply?

  3. Pass a competitive selection in your country, conducted by respective Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo;

The list of the documents for Golden Scholarship application:

  1. Filled-in application form with a color photo of an applicant attached;

  3. Copy of the official medical certificate, confirming that there are no precautions for a student to study in Russia;
  4. Copy of the official medical certificate with the negative result of the HRV|AIDS test;

  6. Copy of the passport pages of an applicant. Passport shall be valid at least within 18 months after the applicant’s date of arrival in Russia;

2016 Human Science Summer School in Fukuoka, Japan

Description

The Human Science International Course in the Graduate School of Design, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, invites Graduate School students studying outside of Japan to the 2016 Human Science Summer School. Those of you eligible and interested in the education of our International Course are encouraged to apply. We offer financial support and course credits, as well as course education and laboratory experience.

The Human Science Summer School provides a program consisting of 15 lectures of 90 min (see schedule). (mornings) in combination with research experience at a laboratory of a faculty member of your choosing (afternoons). The lecture course, Advanced Design and Technologies for Human Science, is designed as an overview of the whole curriculum of the Human Science International Course.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

(1)  Graduate School students of universities/institutes outside Japan.

(2)  Those who are interested in education and research of our Human Science International Course.

(3)  Those with sufficient English capability to follow 15 lectures and do laboratory work.

(4)  Those who can get a recommendation from their current supervisor.

Financial support

  • Full or partial support is provided for (1) an economy-class air ticket to and from Japan, (2) accommodation, and (3) meals. The total amount may vary among participants, taking account of the participants’ total amount of air fares, our budget, and whether you have support from your university or not.
  • You will stay at a dormitory room with a kitchenette and free LAN.

The participants will be selected on basis of academic records and supervisor recommendation, We give priority to MA students and encourage faculty staff to apply. Please note that Undergraduate or Doctoral students cannot apply. There is no age limit.

Schwarzman Scholars’s Master Degree Program in China

Description

Schwarzman Scholars announced that it is now accepting applications for its second class. The class of 2017-2018 will enroll in August 2017. Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, one year Master’s degree program based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s top academic institutions. Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders for the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century.

All scholars will study and reside at Schwarzman College, a newly constructed state-of-the-art campus at Tsinghua University, designed to encourage close friendships, cross-cultural connections, and intellectual exchange.

Eligibility

Eligible for this program are following:
  • Students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 28 years old;
  • Students who are proficient in English and have obtained an undergraduate degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university;
  • Students coming from the United States (45%), from China (20%), and 35% from the rest of the world.

Scholarship

The scholarship is fully-funded for all participants, including travel costs and a modest personal stipend.

International Youth Summer School 2016 in Beijing

Description

Youth Time International Movement in collaboration with China Soong Ching Ling Foundation organizes in August 15-20th, 2016 an International Youth Summer School in Beijing. The event will bring together about 50 ambitious, young and motivated people from different countries over the world, who will receive professional trainings and are under supervision of experts take part in workshops and masterclasses. The purpose of the event is to help you and other participants develop a unique set of skills that can be used in your professional and personal lives, as well to offer you an opportunity to create a network of young leaders and youth-led organizations. Accordingly the program is drawn up that embraces various formats, such as: taking part in workshops and case studies, being inspired by captivating master classes and meeting other young ambitious people from all around the world. Cultural events in the program with informal, networking and socializing activities will accompany the working part of the event.

The theme of 2016 International Youth Summer School is “Bridging Cultures with Business Experience”. It will last for 5 days, August 15-20th, 2016. The program contains various formats:

  • Master classes of inspiring speakers.
  • Workshops with professional trainers.
  • Case study analysis under the supervision of experts.

International Rotary Peace Fellowship

Deadline: 31 May 2016
Open to: professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution
Fellowship: tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses

Description

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships at one of the peace centers. In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 900 fellows for careers in peace building. Many of them go on to serve as leaders in national governments, NGOs, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and World Bank.

Two types of peace fellowships are available.

Master Degree

They offer master’s degree fellowships at premier universities in fields related to peace and conflict prevention and resolution. Programs last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during the academic break. Each year, they award up to 50 master’s degree fellowships at these institutions:

Professional Development Certificate

For experienced professionals working in peace-related fields who want to enhance their professional skills, they offer a three-month program in peace and conflict prevention and resolution at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand (fact sheet). This program incorporates two to three weeks of field study. They award up to 50 certificates each year.

Eligibility

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution.

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in English; proficiency in a second language is strongly recommended;
  • Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service;
  • Excellent leadership skills;
  • Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree;
  • Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background.

Fellowship

These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.
